Race 7 No. 3 Termagant

Matthew Hoysted’s mare showed good form in 2024 winning three times from five starts including when racing on a soft 7 track at Sunshine Coast in February.

The selection came home five lengths clear of rivals when racing on a soft 7 surface that day and duly completed a wet track hat-trick with two subsequent wins at that venue.

While Termagent could finish only sixth in a twelve-runner 1000m Benchmark 70 handicap at Sunshine Coast in August she returned to winning ways on her return to action recently.

The pick won by half-a-length when resuming in a 1000m Benchmark 70 handicap at Eagle Farm, which also marked her first start on a sound surface.

A wide barrier isn’t ideal here, however, the mare is expected to race from mid-division and she should be able to slot in under Ryan Maloney.

The daughter of Deep Field drops to a Benchmark 68 handicap here and having won second up in both previous preps she is taken to record a win.

Race 1 No. 1 Silvio Dante

The five-year-old failed to shine when down the field over 1200m at Doomben when debuting in February last year.

The pick has demonstrated improvement since returning this prep however including when third of six over 1350m at Ipswich first up.

The gelding raced on a heavy 10 track that day but has proven adept on quicker going since with the selection’s first placed effort seeing him finish runner-up at Sunshine Coast last month.

The son of Heroic Valour finished strongly having been ridden cold that day and having become unbalanced was beaten just under two-and-a-half-lengths over 1400m.

Jason Edwards’ representative went on to record a solid fourth on his first attempt at 1600m at Eagle Farm earlier this month and the extra distance here is expected to suit.

Jockey Michael Rodd knows the gelding well having ridden him on his last two starts and jumping from a good barrier his mount looks up to breaking through for his first win.

Race 6 No. 8 Tiger Shark

Natalie McCall’s mare placed second when contesting a 1000m Benchmark 90 handicap at Eagle Farm last time.

The four-year-old is closely matched with the winner Golden Boom, fourth Shalaa’s Moment and sixth The Big Goodbye on her firth in the Listed Sky Racing Bribie at Eagle Farm prior.

Bailey Wheeler won on the daughter of Rich Enuff at this level in April last year and having been available at $9 when markets opened, she is now a $6.50 chance via Ladbrokes

Annabel Neasham & Rob Archibald can boast a 23.5% strike-rate (4/17) with a further three places at this venue since teaming up.

The pair are set to saddle two runners on the day with Autumn Miss of particular interest in the fourth with Jag Guthmann-Chester heading into this event with a 23.5% strike-rate (12/51) for the Neasham/Archibald stable.

In the following race Diablo Bolt, the winner of both starts this prep is expected to feature prominently in the betting with Ron Stewart aboard.
