Gold Coast Tips January 9
AQUIS GOLD PEARL Tips (Race 2)
Gold Coast Value Bet - Race 2 No. 8 Miss In Charge
The Kris Lees-trained Miss In Charge was extremely unlucky on debut when poleaxed down the straight by Sweet Dolly and can make amends off a strong speed at the Gold Coast.
After settling three-wide with cover behind race favourite Fake Love, the daughter of Hinchinbrook was building into the race before she was smacked sideways by Sweet Dolly, losing all momentum with 300m to go.
Despite the heavy knock, she was able to gather herself back up and hammer the line, taking ground off the winners in the concluding stages.
Producing a terrific tick-over trial win at Deagon under Andrew Mallyon, Mallyon stays aboard on Saturday and set to land behind a hot speed, Miss In Charge can pounce late.

AQUIS GOLD NUGGET Tips (Race 3)
Gold Coast Best Bet - Race 3 No. 1 Finance Tycoon
The Maribyrnong Plate winner returns first-up from a strong trial and looks very hard to beat in preparation for next weeks Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
After a strong debut behind General Beau, the blinkers were applied for his career start number two for an immediate effect, taking out the Maribyrnong Plate over Ingratiating.
Running quicker time than the three-year-old's on Melbourne Cup day, the Lindsey Park trained colt by Written Tycoon was able to put a gap on his rivals that day and produced a strong trial win against the older horses in preparation for this.
Luke Nolen has made the trip up to Queensland to ride Finance Tycoon and boasting terrific gate speed, will be extremely hard to beat as the best bet of the day.
PLAY GOLD COAST OPEN Tips (Race 5)
Gold Coast Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 3 Sugar Boom
Don't let the wide draw worry you, Sugar Boom boasts electrifying gate speed and will be extremely hard to catch over 900m around the Gold Coast.
After winning her first two of three starts this preparation, the Tony Gollan trained mare by Spirit of Boom was only nailed late at Eagle Farm by Usmanov last start as her fitness gave way in the final 50m.
A winner of six from eleven starts on Good tracks, Michael Rodd climbs aboard the four-year-old mare and although there is some speed drawn inside her, will have the chance to cross and lead from the 900m chute.
Sugar Boom gains the services of Michael Rodd for this Saturday's assignment and making her own luck up front, she's likeable.
MELBOURNE MAIL: Flemington Race-By-Race Preview
THE TAB WAVE Tips (Race 8)
Gold Coast Roughie - Race 8 No. 13 Kukeracha
After a brave win at Eagle Farm last start, Chris Waller trained Kukeracha will be hard to catch from the front carrying 53kg.
Enjoying a terrific preparation so far, the three-year-old colt by Night of Thunder recorded a well deserved victory over the mile at Eagle Farm last start, fighting back after being clearly headed down the straight by Dszenifer.
Bred to thrive over further ground, there doesn't look to be much speed at all in the race and although Ballistic Boy will be hard to beat, the favourite enters the race a month between runs after being scratched due a barrier incident last weekend at Eagle Farm.
Tackling 1800m for the first time, Kukeracha comes off a tough run last start and set to enjoy a weight drop, will gain all the favours from the front with little speed in the race.
SA SELECTIONS: Murray Bridge Best Bets
AQUIS DUBIOUS BENCHMARK 85 Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Gold Coast Favourite - Race 9 No. 15 Splendouronthegrass
Winning two of three starts since joining David Vandyke's stable, Splendoronthegrass looks well placed once again to settle behind a strong and prove hard to beat.
After recording a dominant win at Ipswich in her Queensland debut, the So You Think mare was tested at Listed level, finishing sixth beaten under two-lengths.
Stepping back in grade at Eagle Farm in a mares Class 6, Stephanie Thornton produced a terrific ride to settle her behind the speed, pulling away for a nice victory.
Boasting a terrific turn of foot, barrier ten looks a massive bonus for Splendoronthegrass who will be ridden midfield with cover then this four-year-old will look blend into proceedings late.
