Geraldton Next Best Bet - Race 1 No. 6 Lips Don't Lie

This mare does look very well placed at provincial level second-up following a WA debut via a much stronger metro maiden at Ascot and she was held up in the straight there.

Lips Don't Lie was specked in the market for that fresh assignment, with the daughter of Zoustar starting as a $6 chance off the back of an encouraging Lark Hill trial on March 11.

She was only beaten in the last stride second-up last prep when campaigning in Adelaide and with even luck from a good draw, she won't find a better chance to breakthrough.

Geraldton Best Bet - Race 4 No. 2 Defending

Coming down in trip is the main query, with all of his winning form coming over a little further, his turn-of-foot in this small field could prove the difference in what is a thin race.

This looks a little easier than the 1200m 70+ that he took out last start, where Defending rattled off the fastest last 400m of the April 4 meeting to reel in a useful Dream To Me.

The five-year-old landed big bets in that latest outing, which followed a consistent stretch of form over February and March, and competitive runs at Saturday metro level were among those.

Geraldton Value Bet - Race 5 No. 3 Queen Tiffany

A slow getaway was out of character fourth-up over this track/trip and following a cold ride after that, Queen Tiffany was badly held-up in the run home when ridden for luck.

A four-year-old who still has some upside, Queen Tiffany wasn't far away in a stronger affair prior to that on March 27 and also performed well first and second-up after a sole spring run.

With a cleaner jump, there's an opportunity to cross this time around, as there isn't a great deal of speed drawn to her inside and back to 1100m on a short turnaround is fine.

Country Comfort Perth Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Geraldton Roughie - Race 7 No. 10 Denzoe

Even though she's a big price in the early markets, don't be shocked if Denzoe starts even longer at the jump, as her strike is poor and she finished last of eight on April 7.

The daughter of Denman was badly held up in that last appearance, however, and as a mare who generally settles on the speed, she arrived to that latest run off a fair resumption.

Denzoe took a long time breakthrough, although her provincial form has been consistent this season and with improvement to come third-up, she can give a sight in a nothing sort of a race.
