Although she was a little plain second-up at Pinjarra, that wasn't unexpected staying at 1400m and she was good first-up over that track/trip.

Cafe Nera bounced off a second-up flop last prep to just miss over the Ascot 1800m, with the mare going on to record two wins that campaign.

Her form at 1800m+ is very consistent and third-up with a drop in grade, she's value outside of the two favs, who both have plenty of knocks.

Geraldton Best Bet - Race 3 No. 2 Designated Drinker

This seven-year-old is in career best touch, opening his summer prep with a winning hat-trick and there's been merit to most of those wins.

Going from 1400m to 1900m third-up with 60kg to carry, Designated Drinker had a bit against him last start, but he got the job done again.

There's a little more depth to this event, however he carries 2kg less and now proven over this trip, he can stretch the winning run to four.

Geraldton Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 3 Edmond

They don't come much more honest than Edmond, who was competitive at Ascot last start, where he was more than four weeks between runs.

That fourth on Jan 7 was his first time finishing outside the top three in WA, with three wins and seven placings for Gordon Spowart prior to that.

A proven weight carrier that is effective over any journey up to a mile, he's the safest option in the penultimate at Grealdton, despite a wide draw.
