Geelong Value Bet - Race 1 No. 9 Rockin’ At Midnite
The youngster gained plenty fo experience in jumpouts before making her racecourse debut at this venue at the start of the month.
Those jumpout efforts included a couple of solid efforts in finishing second and fourth in two 800m contests at Flemington last month.
The daughter of Extreme Choice started awkwardly when delivering a third-place finish in an 1125m maiden here on debut.
The pick was beaten less than one-and-a-half-lengths when contesting a five-runner event on a good 4 track that day and similar underfoot conditions are expected here.
Chris Waller’s filly kept on nicely having raced close to the speed on debut and she has a good barrier in four for this contest.
While she tackles a larger field here she is expected to have improved for that debut effort and with Michael Dee up once more looks value to break her maiden at the second attempt.
Paul Kelly Creative Maiden Plate Tips (Race 4)
Geelong Next Best Bet - Race 4 No. 8 Torbelo
The four-year-old has demonstrated plenty of ability since stepping up in distance placing in each of his last three starts.
The first two of those came over 2100m on the synthetic track at Ballarat including when beaten just under three lengths there on his penultimate outing.
The pick performed well with his jockey losing his whip on that occasion with the sixth home boosting the form when winning at Mildura earlier this month.
The Toronado gelding caught the eye when finishing strongly having been held up at a crucial stage in finishing runner-up on Pakenham’s synthetic surface at the end of last month.
The selection lost out by just over half-a-length and shaped as if further would suit when stepped up to 2200m on that occasion.
John Allen should have options with regard to tactics jumping from barrier two and he is taken to steer Ciaron Maher’s gelding to his first victory.
Jack Rabbit Girls On Track Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Geelong Roughie - Race 6 No. 11 Cover Star
The mare has been racing on the synthetic tracks in the main in the last couple of years with her only turf win come when successful at Kyneton in May last year.
The five-year-old has won at Benchmark 70 level on the synthetic track at Ballarat since then triumphing by nearly four lengths on that occasion.
The pick resumed this prep with a fifth at Bendigo in early June however her 2024 campaign has been blighted by issues at the start.
Matt Cumani’s representative broke poorly at Bendigo and has since started awkwardly and dwelt on the synthetic tracks at both Ballarat and Pakenham.
There were no such issues when beaten just under five lengths into fourth at Pakenham last time out however and she has a good barrier in five here.
The selection has performed well over 1200m in the past and racing on turf for the first time since Bendigo she may prove capable of surprising.
Briseis Gold Cup Tips (Race 7)
Geelong Best Bet - Race 7 No. 3 Muktamil
Formerly trained in Europe the gelding has finished in the first three in all bar one of his six starts since changing hemispheres.
The exception came when beaten just over one-and-a-half-lengths in a 2000m maiden at Mildura in July.
The selection raced on a soft 7 track that day but proved the quicker going expected here is no issue when runner-up on a good 4 surface when racing at Ballarat next time.
Trained by Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young the son of Sea The Stars broke through for his first victory when winning by two lengths over 2400m at Bendigo last time out.
The pick raced from the rear of mid-division when winning in impressive fashion that day and with that in mind he should have no problems jumping from a wide barrier here.
Jamie Mott, on board at Bendigo is again set to ride here and his mount looks capable of completing a double.
