Prestige Jayco BM58 Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Geelong Value Bet - Race 5 No. 12 Robert The Puss
Trained by Pat Carey & Harris Walker the gelding has demonstrated a liking for this venue in the past placing in two of his three starts here.
The most recent of those outings saw him beaten just over two lengths when third in a 1343m Benchmark 58 handicap May 24.
The selection raced on a soft 5 track when jumping from next to the rail that day and he again has a good barrier having performed well on the forecast quicker going in the past.
While the son of Bobby’s Kitten has just one win to his name it’s of note that it came over this distance in a Seymour maiden in April last year.
The pick should have no issue dropping back in distance and getting in off a nice racing weight he looks value to deliver a victory with Carleen Hefel set to ride.

Geelong Roughie - Race 6 No. 8 Danerich Dan
With a number of this field expected to want to race close to or on the speed this race may well be set up for a closer.
Logan Bates’ mount fits the bill in that regard having registered good efforts from off the pace under Bates in each of his last two starts.
The second of those saw him lose out by a narrow margin when finishing strongly in a 1209m Restricted 58 handicap held on a good 4 track at Echuca last month.
The pick is no stranger to surprise wins here having twice saluted at double-figure odds at this venue including when paying $26 over this track and trip in July last year.
Ray Besanko’s gelding has underfoot conditions in his favour here and he may prove up to overcoming a wide alley to deliver a big odds success in this event.

Geelong Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 11 Elba
The three-year-old demonstrated good form in maiden company in 2023 placing in all four starts including when runner-up on the Lakeside track at Sandown in November.
The pick was spelled following that effort and appeared to have no issue with the switch to a wet track when winning over 1000m on a soft 6 surface at Cranbourne first up this prep.
The daughter of Fastnet Rock came close to following up when a good second over 1100m in a Werribee Benchmark 64 handicap when again encountering soft going a month ago.
Trained by Anthony & Sam Freedman the selection was never a factor when down the field over 1100m at Flemington when last in action May 18.
The filly tracked the speed in her first two starts this prep and a return to such tactics is expected from an inside barrier.
The selection steps up in distance here and tackling an easier contest than at Flemington looks capable of returning to winning ways.

Geelong Best Bet - Race 9 No. 7 Co Co Van Winkle
The New Zealand-bred filly has been in great form this prep winning three times from seven starts.
The four-year-old has just one finish outside the first two to her name this time around with that coming at Pakenham five starts back.
The selection arrives here on the back of a victory over this distance in a Benchmark 58 handicap on a good 4 track at Cranbourne May 17.
The filly came home over one-and-a-half-lengths clear of her rivals under her jockey here Jaylah Kennedy on that occasion.
The third home from that Cranbourne effort has boosted the form with a Pakenham win in a Benchmark 64 handicap subsequently.
The pick had previously lost out by less than a length when racing from mid-division prior to finishing second over 1500m at Mornington.
Trained by Ben, JD & Will Hayes the filly has a good barrier and is taken to complete a double.
