Geelong Tips for January 15
Bennett Racing 3YO Maiden Plate Tips (Race 3)
Geelong Best Bet - Race 3 No. 1 Brazen Bully
This three-year-old was very good off of a six month spell where he bumped into a Stakes class horse in Retrovailles at this track three weeks ago.
He is a horse that is bred to thrive on this trip, and will only be improving back to a firmer footing.
From barrier six, he is expected to take a midfield position where Damien Thornton can dictate when he pushes the go button around the bend.
With natural improvement, up in trip and the exposure to the Geelong circuit, Brazen Bully looks mighty tough to beat.
Connect Tel BM58 Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Geelong Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 8 Cardice
This mare had trialled up super in-between her Maiden win at Wangratta and her third placing at Sale, which is why she was so hard in the market.
That race simply did not pan out for her, not handling the heavy track all that well and going out in front very hard on a day where it was much easier for horses to get a suck in behind and swoop.
She now comes out of that race to Geelong where she looks better suited with firmer footing and a very soft gate.
If Cardice can settle in the run better than last start, she is the one to beat and the horse on the way up.
Elephant & Castle Hotel BM68 Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Geelong Value Bet - Race 8 No. 3 Jessica Rae
She often starts double figures, but her first-up run was encouraging enough to say that she is in for a good prep.
Jessica Rae was just under five lengths away from Crowned Monarch who ran well at Caulfield during the week, while the runner-up Zakurak has been in good form.
This mare is a second-up winner and will appreciate the rise in trip to the 1347m.
With form around the likes of It'sayesfromme, Boomstock and Grinzinger Allee, she deserves more credit in the market and will strip fitter for this attempt.
