Stradbroke Season On Sale Soon Benchmark 78 Handicap Tips (Race 2)
Eagle Farm Roughie - Race 2 No. 4 Bedford Square
The seven-year-old has shown a liking for this venue in the past including when winning here in January last year.
The mare has gone on to place in three of her five starts at this circuit including when one-and-a-half-lengths second in a 2418m Benchmark 65 handicap in early November.
The daughter of Tavistock went on to finish one place better when saluting in a 2200m Benchmark 78 handicap held on a soft 6 track at Doomben later that month.
While unable to score in two subsequent starts she has delivered respectable efforts on each occasion including when jumping at $81 for the Magic Millions Shoot Out over 2100m last month.
Jack Bruce’s representative was beaten just over six lengths into sixth in a thirteen-runner contest that day and she is expected to be ridden cold.
The easier contest she tackles here is a positive and having won at this level in November she may prove capable of delivering her second success of the season.
Sky Racing Benchmark 90 Handicap Tips (Race 4)
Eagle Farm Best Bet - Race 4 No. 5 Kronenbourg
Tony Gollan’s representative is a winner here already this prep having got home by a narrow margin over 1600m in October.
The pick raced on a good 4 track at Benchmark 78 level that day and the softer going expected here is no issue having performed well on a wet track on his penultimate start.
The six-year-old was beaten one-and-a-half-lengths into fourth when racing on a soft 7 surface that day and that form has been boosted by a subsequent win for the third.
The son of Vadamos stepped up to 1830m for a Benchmark 78 handicap held on a good 4 surface here last time and he lost out by a narrow margin having raced from behind the speed.
The drop back to 1600m is in the gelding’s favour here and he looks ready for the step up in grade he gets here.
James Orman is a positive jockey booking here and while his mount has raced from the front in the past he doesn’t have to lead and looks up to recording his seventh career win.
Ladbrokes Racing Club Class 2 Plate Tips (Race 6)
Eagle Farm Value Bet - Race 6 No. 9 Rimbaud
The four-year-old showed good form in 2024 including when placed at Sunshine Coast on his final two starts of the year.
The first of those efforts saw the gelding beaten two lengths into second in a 1400m Benchmark 68 handicap held on a soft 6 track.
The pick dropped back to the 1200m distance he tackles here when placing third in a Class 3 set weights contest on a good 4 surface subsequently.
The son of Lope de Vega has been off the track since that Class 3 third however he boasts a good record fresh having finished in the first three in all three previous first-up efforts.
Those efforts include a maiden win over 1100m at Ipswich on his return to action last prep while he went on to score over 1400m at this venue two starts later.
Forecast underfoot conditions are in the gelding’s favour here and while a wide barrier is far from ideal he looks value to overcome that with regular rider Jag Guthmann-Chester up.
Girls Day Out 1 March Class 6 Plate Tips (Race 9)
Eagle Farm Next Best Bet - Race 9 No. 9 Weigall Tiger
Kelly Schweida’s gelding ended last season with a good second when contesting a 1400m Class 6 event on a wet track here at the start of July.
The selection was ridden by his jockey here Adin Thompson that day with Thompson again in the saddle when the gelding finish runner-up over 1200m at Doomben first up this prep.
The four-year-old was beaten two lengths when contesting a Benchmark 78 handicap on a good 4 track on that occasion.
A comfortable two-and-a-half-length victory stepped up to 1350m for a Class 4 handicap followed with both of those efforts coming on a good 4 surface.
While the pick failed to justify favouritism when runner-up at Benchmark 85 level here last time he did have only subsequent Magic Millions Buffering winner Transatlantic ahead of him.
There was over two lengths back to the third home with the well held fifth, Inver Park for Kris Lees going on to score next time.
The pick boasts a good barrier here and switching to a set weights event the pick looks capable of recording his second win of the campaign.
