Eagle Farm Favourite - Race 2 No. 2 Flying Aurelius
The son of Flying Artie demonstrated plenty of ability in his trails following up a win over 1000m at Doomben in March with a second over the same track and trip the following month.
While the gelding didn’t debut until last month he made the perfect start to his career in seeing off nine rivals to register a half-length success at Gold Coast.
The selection started a short-priced favourite when overcoming an issue at the start and overracing early to salute over 1200m on a good 4 track that day.
While that race has yet to produce a winner it’s of note that the third home has placed twice in metro events subsequently while the eight has finished runner-up at Grafton.
The pick is expected to have improved for that debut effort while he showed up well when placing second in a Doomben barrier trial last week.
Trainer Barry Lockwood boasts a strike-rate of over 23% (21/89) when booking jockey James Orman and they can team up successfully here.

Eagle Farm Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 11 Glebe
The New Zealand-bred filly demonstrated solid form in maiden company last prep placing third in two of her four outings including at Canterbury at the start of May.
The four-year-old had to trial following a last-place finish in a metro maiden on the Kensington course at Randwick two weeks later and she returned to action at Murwillumbah in August.
Chris Waller’s filly made an impressive seasonal debut on that occasion coming home three lengths clear of her rivals in a 1350m maiden.
The pick raced on a soft 7 track in that event and performed well when third on her first start against winners in a Restricted 62 handicap for fillies at Doomben subsequently.
The daughter of Savabeel was beaten just over one-and-a-half-lengths when contesting a 1350m event on a good 4 surface at Doomben and she looks ready for this step up in distance.
The switch to a forecast soft 5 surface is a positive here and jumping from barrier six she looks capable of doubling her career tally.

Eagle Farm Best Bet - Race 6 No. 12 Sunlord
The four-year-old demonstrated ability when in the care of John O’Shea including when following up a metro maiden third at Randwick Kensington with a Newcastle maiden win in February.
The gelding ended his time with O’Shea with a seventh when contesting a 1900m Benchmark 78 handicap at Rosehill in March.
Now in the care of Tony Gollan the pick trialled over 1050m at Deagon prior to returning to action in a 1200m Class 1 set weights event at Gold Coast last month.
The selection finished just over two lengths back in third having overraced in the middle stages of the race which was held on a good 4 track that day.
While just two runners have emerged from that Gold Coast contest one of those, fifth home Bengal Diamond was a winner at this venue a week ago.
The step up in distance is no issue in this contest and while the gelding has a wide alley to overcome he looks capable of doing just that with James Orman taking over in the saddle.
