Our Eagle Farm best bets are provided by expert form analysts and tipsters, with a preview of Saturday's meeting included below.
Race 1 - 11:43AM LED Super Screens Benchmark 78 Handicap Tips (1600m)
Selections: 13,3,10,4.
13. YASUKE is a lightly raced three-year-old colt from the Chris Waller stable, who recently contested the Group 3 Rough Habit over 2000m. He finished midfield in that event, under six lengths from Special Swey, who should be competitive in the Queensland Derby. He's the one with the most upside here, and seems to be better suited back to a mile.
3. Sir Barnabus finished off nicely when second-up and was close to Yasuke on the line. Third-up, he should be ready to produce a big run at a decent quote ($26.00 @
TopSport).
10. The Drover has been a model of consistency and just hasn't been able to get the job done of late. He;ll look the winner at some stage.
4. Blacklog stormed home last run behind Alburq and prior to that ran, was fourth to Kalapour, which is fair form.
Race 2 - 12:18PM The Star Class 6 Handicap Tips (1400m)
Selections: 6,13,3,1.
6. NOD OF THE HEAD is a New Zealander that looks well suited in this Class 6. Two starts back at Hastings, he ran third in listed company after being cramped for room over the final 150m, while in his Aus debut at Doomben, he finished hard in fifth position behind a useful National Choice. 1400m is his best distance and he's over the odds here.
13. Magnus Bellagio ran through the line well behind Arentee in this same grade and hould appreciate the step up in trip. He's right in this.
3. Manhood maps kindly from barrier three here fourth-up. Running well and won a Class 6 first-up, so looks a good chance.
1. Antino is an emergency in the Kingsford-Smith and needs another two scratchings to gain a start there.
Race 3 - 12:53PM Living Turf Premier's Cup Tips (2400m)
Selections: 3,1,4,5.
3. SERPENTINE may be a query second-up, as he did get an easy run in front of the small field fresh. He staved off Kalapour's challenge in what was a tough staying performanc and that runner defeated Dune Forty Five next start. He's taken on some of the best staying races around the world and is racing in good enough form to win again.
1. Fancy Man is third-up and has placed in several Group 3s in the UK, so is comfortable enough at this level. Raced at the flanks of White Marlin last start, which was a big ask.
4. Kalapour was back in trip last start to win and deserves his chance at 2400m. Won over 2551m in Ireland, so he'll stay.
5. Kukeracha won over the 2021 Queensland Derby over this track/trip and is fitter here fourth-up.
Race 4 - 1:28PM Sky Racing Lord Mayor's Cup Tips (1800m)
Selections: 4,13,3,12
4. NEW MANDATE won the Group 3 Hawkesbury Cup impressively, producing a great turn-of-foot to trounce his rivals. He was only 4.7 lengths off Zaaki in the Group 2 Hollindale at his last run, which lines up pretty well, given Huetor went on to win the Doomben Cup and he has J-Mac in the saddle to offset the wide gate. Well placed here.
13. Luncies is better over the further staying trips, although second-up at 1800m should put him in this race. Flew late first-up to just miss and has the class.
3. Without A Fight has now been transferred to Anthony & Sam Freedman after being fancied in last year's Melbourne Cup. Interesting runner.
12. Young Werther is first-up and while he struggles to win, the five-year-old is often thereabouts.
Race 5 - 2:03PM Mullin Lawyers Fred Best Classic Tips (1400m)
Selections: 2,4,8,1.
2. YELLOW BRICK is a very talented three-year-old and he's got much bigger fish to fry (Stradbroke?). He was enormous first-up, travelling three-wide the trip before putting away his rivals. He's as tough as old boots, in the Alligator Blood mould and staying at this Group 3 level gives him a great chance to add to his already impressive record.
4. Zou Tiger has placed at Group 1 level on a couple of occasions, although seems to lack that killer punch late. He's very honest and gets J-Mac here.
8. Hawaii Five Oh put on a powerful display to win at Hawkesbury and that may be the making of him. He races well on the fresh side.
1. Fashion Legend beat home Yellow Brick last prep, but there were excuses for the runner-up in that battle.
Race 6 - 2:38PM Aquis Stallions BRC Sires' Produce Tips (1400m)
Selections: 9,1,2,11.
9. SOLIDIFY comes across the ditch with some very good form. The colt was very strong at the end of 1200m to win last start and given his sire Redwood, has produced some good staying offspring, he should lap up going to 1400m for the first time. The kiwi brings a different form line to his rivals and I expect him be very competitive.
1. Cifrado ran down Armed Forces right on the line, so should be suited up in trip. Gets a long way back, but does produce a powerful sprint.
2. Chrysaor is a Waller runner, that won well at Gosford last start. Can go on with it now, with more in his favour here.
11. Snapback was unlucky behind Chrysaor at Gosford, but might not have the upside of that winner.
Race 7 - 3:17PM Ladbrokes Queensland Derby Tips (2400m)
Selections: 8,1,2,6.
8. SPECIAL SWEY has been transferred to Chris Waller stable and could not have impressed more in his effort to win the Group 3 Rough Habit. After making a mid-race move, he circled half the field to take up the running, pouring on the pressure in the straight to hold out The Vowels. That was big win and Nash Rawiller is key engagement.
1. Kovalica missed a run in the Rough Habit and then finished a close up third in the Doomben Cup. It wasn't in their plans to back him up and he was just fair last week, so there's queries at the price.
2. The Vowels came from last to finish second behind Special Swey and he is as honest as the day is long.
6. Tapildoodledo will lap up 2400m here and is worth including into the longer multiples/exotics.
Race 8 - 3:57PM Eva Air Kingsford-Smith Cup Tips (1300m)
Selections: 2,7,1,11.
2. A CASE OF YOU has finally drawn a gate, so he may be able to settle a touch closer than where he has been in recent starts. The five-year-old has won two Group 1's overseas, so has class along with being seasoned and 1300m looks ideal now. He will get back and will be finishing off hard in what looms as a peak performance Down Under.
7. King Of Sparta is an underrated galloper, who produced one of his best runs last start when second to Rothfire. He thrives in Queensland and he's one of the main contenders.
1. Eduardo did a bit too much work last start and capitulated as result. He's the one who has produced at the highest level.
11. Think About It has won seven from eigth, so there's no knock on him yet, but this is by far his biggest test to date.
Race 9 - 4:38PM Magic Millions Bright Helen Coughlan Stakes Tips (1200m)
Selections: 10,8,4,6.
10. EXTREMIST will make the pace and although she has been run down late in her two runs this campaign, there has been plenty of merit in those efforts. She does have a touch of class and won three in a row last preparation, while the local mare rarely misses a place, so will be there when it counts. Should give a good sight.
8. Brookspire is well in at the weights with 55.5kg and won the Magic Millions for filles and mares back in January. She generally comes to hand early.
4. Sneaky Five should be ready to run a race third-up on Sat, Defeated Shooting To Win last prep, which lines up well at this level.
6. Salateen was under a length from the winner Fifteen Rounds second-up and she can figure if they're making ground.
