Girls Day Out 1 March Benchmark 68 Handicap Tips (Race 2)
Doomben Value Bet - Race 2 No. 5 Shadow Power
The son of Dundeel ended his last prep with back-to-back wins at Toowoomba and Ipswich.
The first of those wins saw the gelding come home three lengths clear of his rivals in a 1300m maiden held on a soft 5 track at Toowoomba in July.
The four-year-old duly followed up over an extra 50m when contesting a Benchmark 65 handicap on a good 4 surface at Ipswich the following month.
While the four-year-old could finish only fifth over 1100m at Ipswich first up this prep he has demonstrated improved form since being stepped up in distance.
The selection registered a good third behind a subsequent winner in Liberty Steps when contesting a 1400m Class 3 handicap at Sunshine Coast when racing second up.
Stephen Matthews’ gelding arrives here on the back of a good second in a Restricted 65 handicap over 1630m at this venue last month and he looks capable of going one better here.

Doomben Best Bet - Race 5 No. 1 Savour The Dream
The New Zealand-bred has shown a liking for this venue in the past breaking through for his first win when taking out a 1200m handicap here in June last year.
Two second-place finishes over 1350m here followed that prep prior to the gelding being spelled by connections.
The selection registered a couple of solid placed efforts in barrier trials before resuming with a decent fourth in a 1200m Benchmark 62 handicap at Gold Coast.
The colt was beaten just under four lengths on a heavy 9 track that day and he delivered an improved effort stepped up to 1600m at Eagle Farm in December.
The son of Super Seth finished strongly having been ridden cold on a good 4 track that day with similar tactics expected here.
Bevan Laming’s representative shouldn’t have any issues with barrier ten given his racing style and he is taken to complete a double.

Doomben Roughie - Race 6 No. 4 Secret Revolution
The father/son team of Chris & Corey Munce can boast a near 20% strike-rate (12/61) and a health ROI since teaming up at the start of the season.
While the stables representative here is without a win in over a year he is generally involved at the business end of races including in three starts this campaign.
The five-year-old has placed on all three starts this time around being beaten less than a length on each occasion including on a heavy 8 track at Sunshine Coast on his penultimate start.
The pick came home third of six in a 1000m Class 5 handicap that day and filled the same position in a Benchmark 80 handicap held on a good 4 track over the same course and distance last time.
Martin Harley’s mount has a good barrier six from the rail and should have no issues with the extra 110m here having won and placed over 1100m in the past.

Doomben Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 11 Influential
Jimmy Downes’ representative registered placed efforts at Warwick Farm on his final three starts last prep.
All three of those outings came in Benchmark 72 handicap races over 1600m including when narrowly beaten on a soft 5 track in August.
The pick was spelled following a good third in a six-runner event there the following month and he impressed in a Gold Coast barrier trial ahead of his return to action here last month.
The four-year-old jumped from a wide barrier and raced from behind the speed prior to registering a length second in a 1350m Class 1 set weights contest that day.
The gelding found only a strong finishing hold up performer too strong on that occasion and an inside alley is a positive in this event.
Andrew Mallyon’s mount gets in off a nice racing weight here and looks capable of recording a second up victory.
