Cranbourne Tips June 22

CFC Niza Back To Black Beauty 1986 Maiden Plate Tips (Race 2)

Cranbourne Favourite - Race 2 No. 1 Ekanite

The son of Rubick registered some solid efforts in jump out’s prior to making his debut just under a month ago.

That debut effort saw the gelding race from off the pace prior to delivering a third-place finish in a Geelong maiden.

Ekanite lost out by a length when racing over 1443m that day and he is expected to have improved for that experience.

The gelding jumped from barrier nine in a ten-runner contest on that occasion and an inside alley is a positive in this contest.

The slightly softer going and drop back in distance shouldn’t pose any issues for Ekanite, while Jordan Childs is aboard again.

He was declared for a return visit to Geelong on Friday and connections decision to skip that race to head here.

Cranbourne Value Bet - Race 4 No. 9 Fiora

Ciaron Maher’s filly has shown solid form in two starts over shorter distances, including when debuting with a fourth at Sale last month.

The three-year-old was beaten four lengths when contesting a small field 1427m maiden held on a Soft 5.

Fiora kept on nicely that day when partnered by apprentice Zoe Waller and she went on to finish fourth when stepped up to 1700m at Geelong subsequently.

The daughter of Fiorente was slowly away and raced from off the pace as a result when beaten nine lengths in that Geelong contest.

Fiora is bred to appreciate the step up in distance she gets here and she has an inside barrier for this event.

Luke Cartwright is set to take two-kilogram’s off her back and she looks value at start three.

Cranbourne Best Bet - Race 6 No. 2 Juja Kibo

This Irish-bred galloper broke his maiden when contesting a 1911m event held on a sound surface at Ballinrobe last year.

The four-year-old switched hemisphere’s subsequently and put in a solid effort when racing in a metro contest at Caulfield Heath on his debut for Ciaron Maher.

Juja Kibo was beaten just two-and-a-half-lengths in finishing sixth in a 1500m Benchmark 64 handicap in December and he was spelled following that effort.

The son of Belardo was ridden more positively when dropping down from metro-level racing at Bendigo at the end of last month.

He was returning from a spell in that May 30 performance and John Allen sticks for this second-up attempt.

Now up in distance, Juja Kibo is taken to go one better on Sunday.

Cranbourne Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 8 Damehood

The daughter of Proisir made the perfect start to her career when saluting by one-and-a-half-lengths on debut in October.

Ciaron Maher’s filly backed that effort up with a good fifth-place finish in a large field down the straight at Flemington.

Damehood was beaten less than three lengths on that occasion and she went on to finish fourth-of-six in an open handicap over 1200m in November.

The three-year-old was beaten just under six-and-a-half-lengths in that Cranbourne outing and the drop back to 1000m is no issue.

With a number of her rivals expected to push forward, Damehood is expected to have the race run to suit.

John Allen’s mount boasts an inside barrier and she is taken to record the second win of her career.
