Cranbourne Best Bet - Race 3 No. 1 Last Stylebender

On Victorian debut for Julien Welsh is Last Stylebender, a sprinter who showed potential in three Perth outings last year and he was prepared on the fresh side for two of those runs.

It took a handy one in All Play to reel in him via his latest showing 1000m on October 26, with that galloper winning his last three appearances at Ascot (all at Saturday metro level).

Last Stylebender has tuned up for Friday's return with two nice jump-outs at Cranbourne and he won the latest in good style, with his 800m heat on February 24 being the fastest of the morning.

Khabalov may get away with this weak maiden by default, however, the odds-on fav has had his chances and Starwedge could be the each-way play in an otherwise competitive race.

He wasn't there to any more first-up at Terang, where the four-year-old was eased back from a wide draw and after negotiating some traffic, he worked home well (fastest last 200m of the race).

The gelding does look one-paced, so the rise in trip second-up should suit and with blinkers going on (he wore them in his last trial), he can settle closer from a middle gate.

Although Montjeuify worked nicely when taking out a December 23 jump-out, the five-year-old found 1200m too sharp and he was better placed up to seven furlongs second-up.

In a midweek BM70 that had depth, he whacked away fairly in that last Sandown tilt and with no second-up form, there's improvement to come now with a few runs under the belt.

Montjeuify was mostly consistent throughout last season and the pick of those performances was arguably his brave on-speed second behind Eugenius, who is now a city class operator.

She's always shown ability in her lead-up work and Meh Keffi was sent to the races off a good hit-out when runner-up behind Kundalini, who was Group 3 placed in spring before a spell.

A lack of experience told when contesting a Caulfield Heath maiden on debut, where the filly only balanced up late and she took the necessary improvement to breakthrough at Moe.

There was a touch of arrogance to her February 23 win, where Meh Keffi was a little tardy away and then held-up before swinging wide for clear room, and she's walked in after all of that.
