R&C Asphalt Maiden Plate Tips (Race 4)
Cranbourne Value Bet - Race 4 No. 7 Phantom Prince
The son of Duporth recorded fourth-place finishes in his first two starts this prep including when racing over this track and trip last month.
The selection was beaten just over two-and-a-half-lengths when racing on a soft surface first up on that occasion.
Notably that effort came over this track and trip and he again acquitted himself well when filling the same spot in similar conditions over 1017m at Moe April 25.
While the gelding failed to shine when sixth at Kyneton last time that effort came over 1203m he was forced to race wide and without cover that day.
The drop back in distance is a positive here with Dakotah Keane set to ride for the first time.
The pick has a good barrier in five here and having performed well at this venue in the past he looks value to break his maiden at the sixth attempt.

Cranbourne Best Bet - Race 6 No. 4 Esseffninety
The four-year-old showed ability in two starts in 2022 and showed that he can go well fresh when breaking his maiden over 1000m here in September.
The selection was racing first up on that occasion and went on to register his second career win when defying a wide barrier to win at Pakenham two starts later.
That Pakenham success came when racing on a good 4 track and she followed that effort up with a runner-up finish over the same distance, 1200m at Moonee Valley.
The daughter of I Am Invincible ended her last prep with a highly respectable sixth in a big field Class 4 set weights affair held over 1300m at Gold Coast in January.
The Lloyd Kennewell & Lucy Yeomans team’s form is a further positive here having won with three of their eight runners so far in May and their representative can return with a win.

Cranbourne Favourite - Race 7 No. 1 Co Co Van Winkle
The New Zealand-bred filly has been in good form in 2024 winning twice and placing second three times from six outings.
The first of those wins saw her break her maiden over Benalla in a 1406m contest on her second start this prep.
The pick has raced exclusively on good going this prep including when winning by over a length in a Benchmark 58 handicap over 1606m at Ararat on her penultimate start.
The four-year-old arrives here on the back of a second in a similar contest held over 1500m at Mornington April 29.
The softer ground expected here is no issue with the filly having placed on a soft surface at Geelong in July last year.
Jaylah Kennedy’s mount has a good barrier and with the trip also in her favour can provide the Ben, JD & Will Hayes team with a winner.

Cranbourne Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 3 Jessup
The gelding has demonstrated good form since joining the Shawn Mathrick team prior to finishing down the field in a Pakenham maiden in February.
While disappointing that day the four-year-old has performed well in the main since finishing in the first three in five of his six subsequent starts.
Those efforts include a hat-trick of wins which was completed when successful by two lengths in a 1300m Benchmark 64 handicap here last month.
While disappointing stepped up to Benchmark 70 level and 1400m at Flemington subsequently he was back to form with a second over that trip here May 3.
The gelding’s latest success came on a soft 5 track and the slightly softer going expected here shouldn’t pose any issues.
While barrier ten isn’t ideal the pick ran well from mid-division last time out and looks up to returning to winning ways with Logan Bates taking three kilograms off his back.
