Keith Turner Happy 60th Maiden Plate Tips (Race 2)
Cranbourne Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 1 Don't Doubt Nic
Based off his form from his two-year-old season, he is no doubt the best horse in this race, but the 13 month spell does worry coming up against a few fit horses who look as if they are nearing a win.
First-up in January last year, he was only three lengths behind Jabali Ridge and Hungry Heart down the Flemington straight, while at his next start, raced the likes of Hanseatic and Glenfiddich in a Blue Diamond Preview.
I am not sure what caused such a long lay-off, but he has come back as a gelding and has trialled up nicely at Cranbourne behind China Affair, beating home Lyre and Twain's Express.
Of course trials are not always as they seem, but from what he has shown to date, he looks worth a bet in this, but I do recommend following the market if it is totally against him.
Lofts Quarries BM64 Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Cranbourne Value Bet - Race 5 No. 13 Sir Loft
This galloper was simply too quick last start when leading all of the way at this track over 1400m on a soft surface for the flying Sandhu stable.
They are currently striking at 20% from their last 50 runners which all often make their own luck out the front and are able to dictate races as they would like them to be run.
Prior to his last win, Sir Loft had struck some very handy Maiden races, inlcluding Marabi's where that smart filly won by seven lengths so do not read into the margin too much.
The horse it had beaten has not done a whole lot over it's career, so there are some questionable form lines there, but with a stable in form with a horse who makes his own luck, he looks worth the bet at an each-way quote in a weak race
OBrien Real Estate BM64 Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Cranbourne Best Bet - Race 8 No. 5 Wunambal
This galloper from the Matt Laurie stable looked very progressive two preps ago when placing third at Mornington, breaking the duck at Moe before going on to finish second at Caulfield as a two-year-old.
He seemingly did not come up last prep when having just the one run at Sandown over 1300m with the blinkers on for the first time, fading to finish eight lengths from the winner.
He has come back with a nice jumpout and now swaps the blinkers for the winkers, which should help him settle a little better in running and save that sprint that we know he has.
Wunambal loves the rain effected tracks as he showed as a two-year-old, so returning to that type of deck sits well in his favour.
