Caulfield Tips September 2

Race 1 - 12:05PM MRC Foundation Caulfield Handicap Tips (1600m)

Best: 10. Acclimatise. While he's a prep away or so from furnishing, Acclimatise looks a really nice horse from the Shane Fliender yard, with the Bendigo trainer full of praise for the gelding after the last start win.

Ridden patiently at Seymour after a slow start, he was able to build momentum second-up and sustain a wide run, with the four-year-old defeating another progressive one in Struck Gold.

He beat a subsequent metro winner in Falcon Of Malta at start two in February before a shot at the stumps via the VOBIS Gold Reef at The Valley, where he wasn't disgraced.

Acclimatise - $13.00Caulfield Race Onebet now
18+ only. Don't let the game play you. Stay in control. Gamble responsibly.

Value: 9. Tokenist. He showed ability over his first prep last spring, where a wide gate proved costly at listed level when fifth at Flemington and the Rosehill Guineas winner was produced from that race.

After a second-up BM58 Geelong kill back in May, Tokenist placed in a Saturday three-year-old handicap at Sandown before a 2000m tilt here, where he simply didn't run the trip.

Back to a mile last time on a savage leader's circuit at The Valley, it was a more encouraging performance and on class, a BM70 should be well within reach.

Race 2 - 12:35PM Changing Places Real Estate Handicap Tips (1400m)

Best: 16. Presser. You could make a good case for any of the three single-figure chances and Presser is the one at an each-way quote, a galloper who is better suited back to a four-week between runs pattern.

After two brilliant wins to open the prep, he rose sharply in grade from a midweek BM70 to a Saturday BM84 at Flemington and after looming, was beaten half a length into third.

The runner-up (Hennessy Lad) franked the form in this grade at The Valley last Saturday, while Brayden Star (winner) is rated well above anything contesting this BM78.

Value: 9. Shove Over. To the eye, his 1100m return up the Flemington looked a little plain, although he was only beaten around three lengths behind Benedetta and he was specked at a price.

Given Shove Over covered ground over the 1200m here second-up, that August 19 run had some merit and with his last two wins coming at 1400m, the extra furlong is ideal third-up.

He rolled British Columbia third-up over this distance last prep and that galloper defeated Unusual Culture (won four of his next six) and (Rheinberg (fav here) at his next start.

Race 3 - 1:10PM Fierce Impact - Pedigree Performance Tips (1400m)

Best: 2. Belle Et Riche. While she hadn't finished out of the money in 10 previous starts, the late market support ahead of her return was surprising given her lead-up work suggested that she'd need the run fresh.

Despite punters not landing that move, Belle Et Riche would've entered most blackbook's after that eye-catching Moonee Valley performance, while the subsequent tick-over trial was also strong.

Her three career wins have all come over 1400m, so the extra furlong is ideal here second-up, as is the placement back to a mares BM84, where she draws kindly.

Value: 1. Reo. An interesting runner is this resuming galloper from the Richard Laming stable, who brings residual fitness having contested the Queensland Oaks on June 3 before a spell.

Reo was runner-up in that Group 1 feature at a big price and that was only start six overall for the daughter of Rubick, who made her debut in December and followed that with a winning hat-trick.

Her three victories have all come in the 1400m-1500m range and in a recent Warwick Farm trial on the way back from Queensland, she worked quite well.

Reo - $61.00Caulfield Race Threebet now

Race 4 - 1:45PM Evergreen Turf Handicap Tips (2000m)

Best: 8. Garachico. Despite being unwanted at 40/1 on Australian debut, this Group 3 placed import did enough in that Flemington outing and he gets a big jockey upgrade with Blake Shinn taking the reins here.

Not much went right early, with the five-year-old losing ground and in the straight, he was forced to switch heels and come right down the outside after being held up at around the 300m.

The gelding showed good speed to win an August 18 jump-out following that first-up performance and with Shaiyhar not here, he finds a race that's a little easier.

Garachico - $14.00Caulfield Race Fourbet now
New customers only. 18+ T&Cs and wagering requirements apply.

Value: 7. Senor Uno. After covering ground at Moonee Valley on Australian debut for Michael Kent and with another wide gate, they may wait a week, with a nomination thrown in for Sandown.

That said, Senor Uno wasn't all far off crossing early over the mile, while with Court Deep and Thorin as the only other speed influences, the map is kinder for this 2000m event.

He showed versatility in New Zealand, winning five races in the 1400m-2100m range and I did like the Pakenham jump-out ahead of his latest outing.

Race 5 - 2:20PM Ive Mcneil Stakes Tips (1200m)

Best: 12. Legacies. Given it was a busy affair up front, it was super impressive for a first starter to pull away in the manner that Legacies did on April 13 and that Cranbourne maiden has turned out to be a strong one.

More than a length away in second was stablemate Autumn Angel, who returned with a slick Sandown win recently, while Nodachi (third) was a big winner before just missing in a Group 3.

Spelled after a seven-furlong Listed romp on April 29, the Peter Moody filly arrives off two jump-out's and she was given a solid workout to win her latest at Pakenham.

Value: 9. Heman. He'll likely come into his own over a little more ground, although he beat older rivals on debut over this trip at Kembla and Sweysive (dual Sydney winner) came from that maiden.

With a better draw, Herman likely wins the Listed Oxlade Stakes at start two in Brisbane, with the Snowden colt rattling home for second and beating a handful of stakes performers in he process.

The booking of gun hoop Mark Zahra is significant and for a strong, well-bred colt that's done nothing wrong to date, he's a big price in an open affair.

Heman - $21.00Caulfield Race Fivebet now

Race 6 - 2:55PM Tile Importer Heatherlie Stakes Tips (1700m)

Best: 8. Uncle Bryn. With staying/middle-distance horses early in their work combined with winter horses who are well handicapped, the Heatherlie Stakes is often tough for punters and this edition is no exception.

The map and set-up is an obvious query for Uncle Bryn, albeit his work late in the Group 2 PB Lawrence at WFA was hard to miss and his best Australian runs suggest that this is about his level.

Tipped out after two runs early this year, the six-year-old was a brilliant winner of both the Sale and Cranbourne Cups last spring, with the extra 300m ideal second-up.

Value: 1. Hezashocka. He's a strange horse, as while a Cox Plate nomination looks ambitious at first glance, he's worthy of a slot going off his Mackinnon Stakes and Queen Elizabeth runs last season.

The problem is Hezashocka struggles to come back from Group 1 WFA and put away these races, although without being a strong 2400m horse, he just missed in a Mornington Cup.

On paper, a race like this is very winnable going off his exposed form and the gelding does look forward enough fresh, arriving here off two jump-out wins.

Hezashocka - $19.00Caulfield Race Sixbet now

Race 7 - 3:35PM Tobin Brothers Cockram Stakes Tips (1200m)

Best: 6. Laced Up Heels. One of only two gallopers to defeat star Western Australian Amelia's Jewel, Laced Up Heels has been somewhat of a mixed bag in four Melbourne runs since coming from the west.

A second miss at a mile via the Australian Guineas in autumn confirms that she's a sprinter and just some fair lead-up work, her Regal Roller return over this track/trip was a pass mark.

Laced Up Heels was only beaten around half a length and that was working home in the inferior ground, while back against her own sex, this looks a target race.

Value: 5. Bound For Home. Another to find the inside quicksand here on August 19 was Bound For Home, with the four-year-old seemingly travelling okay before going backwards in the straight.

While this is much harder, she did win the Group 3 Quezette here at only start three just over a year ago and she competitive in two subsequent Group attempts that spring.

The four-year-old had won three jump-outs ahead of that recent return and given she hadn't raced since last November, she's open to improvement second-up.

Bound For Home - $34.00Caulfield Race Sevenbet now
18+ only. Don't let the game play you. Stay in control. Gamble responsibly.

Race 8 - 4:15PM The McCafe 1100 Stakes Tips (1100m)\

Best: 6. Asfoora. After rounding out her spring campaign with back-to-back Group victories, she was spelled with the Oakleigh Plate in mind earlier this year and the mare contested that Group 1 first-up.

If Henry Dwyer had his time again, I suspect he would've given her a lead-up run ahead of that 1100m feature, with the quinella there benefiting from a hit-out a fortnight earlier.

Asfoora was then luckless in the Group 1 Galaxy and while she was then very competitive in the inaugural running of The Quokka, a strong six-furlongs just sees her out.

Asfoora - $3.30Caulfield Race Eightbet now
New customers only. 18+ T&Cs and wagering requirements apply.

Value: 5. Masked Crusader. His drop-off came quickly, with Masked Crusader one of the best sprinters in the country two years ago, with a 2021 that included a Group 1 and two Group 1 placings.

After just missing behind Nature Strip in The Everest that spring, he hasn't been the same horse and a return to Caulfield is timely, with the Team Hawkes galloper 2/2 on this circuit.

One of those victories was in this race back in 2021 where he carried 60kg and now with 57kg, and a strong speed predicted, he needs to show something.

Masked Crusader - $12.00Caulfield Race Eightbet now

Race 9 - 4:50PM Stow Storage Memsie Stakes Tips (1400m)

Best: 2. I Wish I Win. The scary thing for his rivals this season is that Peter Moody hasn't got to the bottom of I Wish I Win, who announced himself on this card 12 months ago with a big win on Australian debut.

He put four lengths on a handy Gentleman Roy via that first triumph down under and with a Golden Eagle victory to round out the prep, he was then focused on sprinting over the autumn.

I'm not sure barrier one is such a negative, as he has been forced back in most Australian outings due to wide gates, so don't be surprised if he's closer than most are predicting.

Value: 10. Osipenko. Staying at 1400m is the slight knock, although he did win second-up over this trip in autumn and as he showed in that Hobartville performance, Osipenko can take a position when drawn low.

From a wide alley and off a very quiet trial, he arguably outperformed expectations first-up in the Winx Stakes on August 19, where the entire made up many lengths to finish fifth on return.

With fitness, map and even intent queries surrounding the proven WFA gallopers, Chris Waller will see this is a big opportunity to land a first Group 1 win with Osipenko.

Race 10 - 5:25PM Neds Super Saturday Handicap Tips (1400m)

Best: 14. Devoted. While he ultimately didn't make the Railway Stakes field last year, this Bob Peters runner was favourite for that Group 1 via the springs futures markets for that Western Australian feature.

Given plenty of time after that early four-year-old prep, Devoted didn't take long to create an impression in Victoria, with a fighting second behind the talented Amenable here on August 19.

He was only getting 1kg off a multiple Group placed runner that was ready to go and now in a nothing race, he's thrown in at the weights with just 50.5kg after the claim.

Value: 6. Ascension. Given it was an easier affair than this at Randwick, I'm a little surprised that connections went for this option over the Sydney one, especially as Ascension had been trialling up there.

He gave 7kg to Tazaral and still defeated that progressive Snowden import back in February, while a third behind Pounding the start prior in this grade is worth respecting here.

The Maher & Eustace import has tactical speed and is a track/trip winner, while his winter lead-up work ahead of this resumption has been encouraging.
