Canterbury Best Bet - Race 3 No. 3 Queen's Rhapsody
The main knock is staying at 1100m second-up for her third career start, as she's bred to get over further and the three-year-old was looking for a little more ground via her November 15 return.
Queen's Rhapsody has talent on her side, however, and there's improvement to come off her chasing effort when runner-up over this track/trip on November 15 in a maiden that rated well.
She was tipped out after a second behind Sakima via her debut and the form around that winner has stood up, with Sakima competitive via three stakes races earlier in the season.
Schweppes Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Canterbury Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 5 Apex
He's well bred, with Apex coming from the same family as Bollinger and Bint Marscay (Group 1 winners) and Team Hawkes-trained galloper justified a $1.50 quote first-up at Hawkesbury.
The son of Exceedance made light work of The Grey (no slouch) via that November 12 appearance, where he let down strongly over 1100m and the extra trip suits second-up.
After travelling well throughout, Apex didn't know to put away a city maiden in May, which was won by Private Life (Caulfield Guineas winner) and the youngster was gelded ahead of this prep.
Headwater @ Vinery Stud Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Canterbury Value Bet - Race 6 No. 10 Callistemon
Following an unlucky return at Randwick, we gave Callistemon a sniff second-up despite a rise in grade at Newcastle and she recorded the second-fastest closing splits of that November 16 event.
She was one run short in that fillies & mares BM78, although it was still an encouraging performance from the Kerry Parker-trained galloper, who is well placed down in class.
Given her long second prep culminated with a Queensland Oaks tilt in winter before a spell, she's taken a few runs to get warm this time in (only had one spring trial before her fresh try).

Canterbury Favourite - Race 8 No. 4 Concello
Both spring efforts over shorter distances in deeper races have been inconclusive, however, I feel Concello is going better than her recent form reads (closing splits good in her latest).
The Chris Waller-trained mare was 1300m to 1800m for that second-up tilt via a Saturday BM78, so she'll be fitter third-up on Friday night and back in grade for now is another tick.
Third-up last campaign, Concello placed in the Group 3 Adrian Knox Stakes, a race that produced the subsequent Australian Oaks winner and getting on to softer ground here could be the key.
