Canterbury Next Best Bet - Race 1 No. 2 It's A Knockout
This is clearly harder coming out of maiden grade, however, it does look to be a thin BM64, as all of her more exposed market threats in this field are still Class 1 eligible.
A subsequent winner has already been produced from her July 17 event, where It's A Knockout was specked at a price before recording a brave all-the-way victory.
Her 1400m maiden on that Randwick-Kensington program went around one length faster than a handy BM72 later on that card and step up to 1550m at start two looks ideal.
TAB Handicap Tips (Race 4)
Canterbury Best Bet - Race 4 No. 7 Bonita Queen
Now in her third campaign and with her two winter trials leading in suggesting that she's furnished, Bonita Queen looks ready to deliver on the promise that she's always shown.
The Bjorn Baker-trained galloper led all the way in good time when breaking through at Hawkesbury first-up last prep and she was then spelled after a plain second-up showing.
There were some excuses for that Kembla Grange performance, as she was fractious after losing her near fore plate and Bonita Queen raced bare in front as a result.
Casino Prince @ Vinery Stud Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Canterbury Value Bet - Race 6 No. 1 Cloudland
He won two of three midweek attempts over a three run prep last spring/summer, with both victories recorded in this grade and he carried more weight in the last of those.
Through Louisville (subsequent BM78 winner who also placed twice at BM88 level), that December 1 reference reads well and Cloudland was then aimed at the Provincial Championships.
He didn't progress after a third behind Territory Express and Willaidow, but that's still good fresh form for a galloper who hasn't missed the top three in five first-up attempts.
Schweppes Handicap Tips (Race 7)
Canterbury Roughie - Race 7 No 9 La Sante
As the ratings across the line-up suggest, this is a weak race for metro BM72 standards and getting weight off the key contenders is La Sante, who is a bolters quote in the last.
Despite being well supported, the Canberra-based gelding wasn't suited dropping back in trip on the synthetic last time and he had been going okay on wet tracks prior to that.
He handles most surfaces, however, La Sante is more effective on firmer ground and with this a Soft 6 (and drying), he'll get conditions to suit and Jay Ford has options from gate six.
