Bendigo Roughie - Race 3 No. 2 Creative Righteous
The son of Rubick cost connections $55,000 at the Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale last year and he showed signs of ability in jumpout’s prior to debuting last month.
That debut effort saw the gelding beaten just under five-and-a-half-lengths in finishing fourth in an 1100m maiden held on a good 4 track at Seymour.
The pick kept on nicely behind rivals having been ridden cold from barrier three on that occasion and like many of his trainer’s runners he is expected to have improved for that debut effort.
The gelding has again been given an inside alley here and he is expected to appreciate the extra 200m he tackles here.
The three-year-old recorded some solid efforts on wet tracks in his jumpout’s and with that in mind the forecast soft 5 surface shouldn’t pose too many issues.
Liam Riordan takes the ride for the first time and the pair may prove capable of springing a surprise.
RMBL Investments Rising Stars Race Tips (Race 6)
Bendigo Value Bet - Race 6 No. 3 Dazzling Sky
The four-year-old registered third place finishes in two of his first three starts last prep including when racing over 1411m at Seymour in June.
The selection raced on a soft 6 track that day and broke through for his maiden success when victorious by over a length when contesting a 1500m Ballarat maiden two weeks later.
The gelding encountered a heavy 8 surface that day and met with similar underfoot conditions when a length second in a 1600m Benchmark 58 handicap at Seymour subsequently.
The drop back to 1200m saw a change of tactics with the pick ridden cold when finishing three lengths fourth in a Benchmark 64 handicap at Mornington first up this prep.
The son of Sooboog has been freshened since that effort and his tactical versatility is a positive jumping from barrier twelve.
The step up to 1400m is in his favour and Tony Noonan’s gelding looks value to register a second up success.
Bendigo Property Maintenance Handicap Tips (Race 7)
Bendigo Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 4 Sawbay
Henry Dwyer’s representative demonstrated a liking for a wet surface when winning by a length over 1900m at Kyneton in March.
The pick was registering her maiden success that day and having been spelled following that effort she has demonstrated improvement with racing this prep.
The four-year-old jumped at big odds when resuming over 1500m at Ballarat in October and was beaten nearly six lengths when seventh over 1700m at Warrnambool subsequently.
The selection’s best effort this time around saw her beaten just over two lengths when third in a Benchmark 58 handicap over 1600m at Ararat last week.
The daughter of Ghibellines stayed on nicely in doing best of those ridden from off the pace that day and similar tactics are expected in this contest.
The New Zealand-bred has shaped as if the extra distance she tackles here will suit in the past and she is taken to double her career tally.
DeAraugo & Lea Electrical Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Bendigo Best Bet - Race 8 No. 1 Big Me
Trainer Nick Ryan boasts a 20% strike-rate (18/89) at this venue and his representative here looks capable of helping him improve on that.
The gelding showed good form in placing in a couple of much stronger metro contests earlier this prep including when third down the straight at Flemington first up.
The pick was beaten less than a length when contesting a 1000m Benchmark 78 handicap held on a heavy 8 surface that day.
A good second when losing out narrowly over 1000m at Moonee Valley when again racing on a wet track followed prior to a couple of unplaced efforts.
The most recent of those unplaced efforts saw the six-year-old fade having been ridden prominently over 1000m in an 1100m Benchmark 78 handicap at Flemington in September.
The son of Your Song has been freshened since that effort and the decision to skip a race at Moonee Valley to head here can pay dividends dropping markedly in grade.
