Benalla Value Bet - Race 2 No. 7 Prandium Tempus
The son of Ilovethiscity showed improvement in his barrier trials including when third over 800m at Wodonga last month.
The three-year-old went on to deliver a good effort when finishing runner-up in a maiden held over this course and distance two weeks ago.
The pick raced on a good 4 surface on that occasion with two of those who finished behind him that day registering placed efforts next time.
The gelding is fitted with ear muffs pre-race for the first time here with the blinkers worn on debut retained.
Trained by Wayne Nichols the selection raced from behind the speed on debut and he is expected to have improved for that effort.
Jockey Milos Bunjevac, on board on debut, for all three barrier trials and a Wangaratta jumpout is again set to ride here and while a wide barrier isn’t ideal his mount looks value to record a win.

Benalla Favourite - Race 6 No. 7 Trak Chiller
Reece Goodwin’s representative is a dual winner this season including over 1200m when taking out a Benchmark 52 handicap at Bairnsdale in early November.
The five-year-old came home three lengths clear of her rivals that day and delivered a near seven-length victory in a Restricted 58 handicap at Stony Creek two starts later.
The mare raced close to the speed prior to asserting in the straight that day and she arrives here on the back of placed efforts in her two subsequent starts.
Both of those efforts came over 1200m most recently when beaten just over a length in a Restricted 58 handicap at Great Western three weeks ago.
The daughter of Artie Schiller looks the main pace angle and having demonstrated good early speed in the past she should be able to overcome barrier ten to race prominently here.
Rhys McLeod rides for the first time and his mount looks up to recording the fourth win of her career.

Benalla Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 6 Fragile Love
The four-year-old ended her last prep with a victory in a 1000m Benchmark 64 handicap held on a soft 6 track at Sandown in July.
The filly came home three lengths clear of her rivals that day and while unable to win in five starts this time around she has been racing at metro level in the main.
The selection recorded a good third in a small field 1000m Benchmark 70 handicap when racing on the Heath track at Caulfield on her penultimate start.
The daughter of No Nay Never was beaten less than one-and-a-half-lengths that day having finished runner-up over the same track and trip prior.
Dominic Sutton’s filly was never a factor when contesting a similar event at Sandown at the start of this month and she can be forgiven that effort having jumped from a wide barrier.
Blinkers replace the visor worn of late and dropping to country-level racing the pick looks up to recording her first win of the year.

Benalla Best Bet - Race 8 No. 1 Varane
The New Zealand-bred gelding is a dual winner from six starts including when successful by a length over 1300m at Wangaratta in June last year.
The pick contested a Benchmark 58 handicap on that occasion and went on to finish a good third in a 1200m Benchmark 64 handicap on a wet track at Seymour the following month.
The four-year-old returned to action with a good second-place finish when racing over 1200m at Warrnambool last month.
Racing on a good 4 surface the gelding finished strongly for second having been ridden cold that day and with that in mind a double-figure barrier shouldn’t pose any issues here.
Billy Egan’s mount is expected to have improved for that effort while the selection has been freshened since that return effort.
The selection remains open to improvement and with the extra distance expected to suit he looks up to registering the third win of his career.
