AMELIA PARK HANDICAP Tips (Race 2)
Belmont Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 7 Nobel Laurence
While he did benefit from a more economical run, Nobel Laurence as safely holding his rivals on July 24 and that has been a handy form race with Reign Of Fire and Jedi Mind two subsequent Saturday winners to be produced from that event
He improved enough with the race experience in his first campaign to make light work of his opposition on November 12 and saluted second-up in March over 1400m, the same pattern that brought about his win two starts back when superbly ridden by Lucy Warwick.
A four-year-old that is maturing with racing, he did pull up with a slow recovery when beaten as an odds-on favourite on August 14, so happy to forgive that and on the 54kg minimum for this step to the mile, he can sprint sharply from ideally a handier position here.
TABTOUCH WESTSPEED PLATINUM HANDICAP Tips (Race 4)
Belmont Best Bet - Race 4 No. 3 Gunmetal Grey
Despite not fully getting through a Heavy 10, the only runner that has beat her home second-up was the hard fit Jedi Mind and the prior form around All Day session certainly reads well enough for what is effectively midweek race here.
Gunmetal Grey was only beaten a length last Saturday after being shuffled back to an impossible position early and although it was a nine-day turnaround, her last victory did come off a shorter break, so the seven-day back-up now she's fit is a plus.
Clearly in need of firmer ground which she'll find this Saturday, this four-year-old is the only runner in the field dropping back in grade from a stronger Saturday class of race and now with three runs under her belt, looks set to peak here under Chris Parnham.
PENINSULA DINING ROOM HANDICAP Tips (Race 6)
Belmont Value Bet - Race 6 No. 1 Salon Du Cheval
The gelding joined the Neville Parker stable this preparation and he's been super competitive in three of four starts for the new yard, with the only flop coming on a heavy track second-up when stepping well up in grade.
Catching the eye first-up over 1400m and building nicely in two August outings, Salon Du Cheval settled further back than anticipated last Saturday with much of the early speed coming from wide, placing him in awkward spot, so he was quite unlucky in that regard.
Spotting 4.5kg to the winner and coming from the back of the field, it was another strong performance from what is still a lightly raced eight-year-old and over the extra furlong, he should settle much closer under Lucy Warwick in what looks a very winnable race.
IDYLLIC PRINCE STAKES Tips (Race 8)
Belmont Feature Tip - Race 8 No. 10 Cockyjoy
Arguably the run of day on last Saturday's Belmont program was the return effort from this six-year-old, who has comfortably recorded the fastest last 600m of the program when sustaining a wide run off a muddling tempo with nothing taking her into it
A versatile mare, there's definitely softer options out there for Cockyjoy rather than competing here at Listed level, but given Neufbosc, Too Close The Sun and Media Baron all thrive over further along with Samizdat back on good ground, the depth of this is questionable.
The ratings suggest that Cockyjoy will likely get outclassed and the market also reflects that, however, from a soft gate and with genuine queries on most of her rivals, a top three or four finish wouldn't at all surprise on Saturday.
