The daughter of Playing God recorded her first win of 2024 when successful by half-a-length over 1000m in a Class 1 handicap at Pinjarra in April.

The pick jumped as favourite that day and went on to finish runner-up over the same track and trip eight days later.

Spelled following a seventh over this course and distance the four-year-old resumed with a good fourth back over 1000m at Northam early last month.

The filly was beaten just under one-and-a-half-lengths contesting a Class 3 handicap held on a good 4 surface that day.

The selection again encountered a good 4 track when narrowly beaten in a 1200m Class 3 handicap at Belmont recently.

William Pike’s mount has gone well from the front in the past however she has been ridden with slightly more restraint in both starts this prep.

Trained by Grant & Alana Williams the filly boasts a good barrier three from the rail and looks ready to strike racing third up.

Ascot Best Bet - Race 4 No. 9 First Beach

Trainer Michael Grantham boasts a 24% strike-rate (24/100) with his runners this season with the gelding one of two for him in this field.

The four-year-old demonstrated ability when third at Cranbourne in May on his sole start for previous handler John Leek.

The selection has gone on to win both starts since joining the Grantham stable including when contesting an 1100m maiden at Bunbury in September.

The son of Nicconi duly followed up when saluting by one-and-a-half-lengths in a 1200m Benchmark 58+ handicap contest at Geraldton last month.

The form of that Geraldton contest is working out well with the third and fourth home both scoring subsequently.

The pick has raced close to the speed in both starts for Grantham including when shaping as if still in need of the experience last time.

Barrier two is a positive in this contest and he looks ready for the step up to metro racing with leading hoop William Pike set to ride for the first time.

Luckygray Stakes (Listed) Tips (Race 6)

Ascot Value Bet - Race 6 No. 12 In Good Order

The four-year-old won twice at Belmont in September including by a narrow margin over 1600m on a soft 6 track.

The gelding duly completed a double when saluting by over a length in a Benchmark 66+ handicap held over the same course and distance on a good 4 surface.

While unable to win in two subsequent starts the pick has shown solid form with the first of those efforts seeing him place third over 1600m here last month.

Daniel Morton’s galloper confirmed he can be competitive at this Listed level when a length third in the Northam Cup just under two weeks ago.

The extra 200m he tackles here shouldn’t pose an issue performed well over further here in the past.

The son of American Pharoah is a versatile type with regard tactics and a wide barrier shouldn’t pose too many issues in this contest.

Regular rider Chris Parnham is again set to ride with the pair looking value to salute off a nice racing weight.

Rhys Radford’s gelding recorded some good efforts in 2023 including when beaten just over a length when third in this race.

That effort was one of three third-place finishes from four starts in Group company in late 2023, with the sole unplaced effort a seventh in the Group 1 Railway Stakes here.

While the pick was unable to salute in five starts earlier this year he did deliver some creditable efforts in defeat including when third in the Group 3 Belmont Sprint.

The eight-year-old was spelled following a tenth in the Group 3 Hyperion Stakes over 1600m at Belmont at the start of June.

The son of Playing God advertised his well-being with two Lark Hill barrier trial wins prior to resuming with a length success in the Group 3 Eurythmic Stakes three weeks ago.

The selection raced over this course and distance when racing on a good 4 surface that day and with similar conditions expected he is taken to follow up.
