Ascot will run a nine race program on May 15 and our free betting tips along with our preview is available below.
CROWN PERTH HANDICAP Tips (Race 3)
Ascot Best Bet - Race 3 No. 1 Son Son
This super honest gelding is yet to finish out of the money in six starts to date and although is short, he looks superbly placed to bounce back third-up on Saturday.
Following an all the way first-up win at 1200m with 60.5kg, there was a bit working against him second-up with the drop to 1100m and going from a good to a heavy surface both negatives, but he only found one with a better turn-of-foot late over the shorter trip.
Son Son has saluted in two of three 1400m attempts and looking to control proceedings up front under Joseph Azzopardi, has found a thin race against mostly limited older rivals where he'll take some running down.
WORLD CLASS BREAST CANCER RESEARCH HANDICAP Tips (Race 5)
Ascot Favourite - Race 5 No. 8 Graceful Girl
An exciting filly resuming for Williams, Peters and Pike who although was a little raw in her first racing preparation, culminated that campaign with back-to-back victories before being tipped out.
By Nicconi and out of the multiple Stakes winning mare, Avenida Madero who has already produced a pair of Group Winners in Respondent and State Solicitor, Graceful Girl appears to have more in common to the latter sibling, a sprinter with a really big turn-of-foot.
The three-year-old looked to toy with her rivals in a Belmont trial on April 27 and while this is quite a handy race, down on the 54kg minimum, she could very well explode here fresh under 'The Wizard'.
BREAST CANCER RESEARCH CENTRE OF WA - ROMA CUP Tips (Race 8)
Ascot Value Bet - Race 8 No. 7 Massimo
With the Belmont Sprint (1400m) on May 29 followed by the Hyperion Stakes (1600m) on June 12, it's a quite strong little period coming up in the west, starting with the Group Three Roma Cup on Saturday.
Although Massimo doesn't have the sprinting prowess of around two/three key rivals (if they're at top), he's the most genuine galloper in this field, one that is as effective at the shorter trips as he is over seven and eight furlongs, so is well suited to the upcoming features.
Finding the line as well as any of his rivals fresh in the Northam Stakes despite enduring wide run, the key to his chances is the inside draw and against some hit or miss opposition, we at least know what we'll get from him.
QUAYCLEAN HANDICAP Tips (Race 9)
Ascot Next Best Bet - Race 9 No. 1 Nerodio
He was defeated by Miss Conteki again, a mare that has now won seven of eight and she got the charmed run through on May 1 whereas Nerodio had to come around them (swap the runs/swap the result).
The knock is that all of his victories have come at Belmont, however, he's only missed a top three finish once in six attempts on this circuit and after coming back to the 1000m second-up, will be close to peaking here at six furlongs.
This lightly raced son of Playing God is putting together a tidy record and keeping the smart 2kg claim of talented apprentice hoop Laqdar Ramoly, he can launch late from a midfield position in the last race at Ascot this season.
