Ararat RSL Sir Brudenell White Highweight Handicap Tips (Race 1)
Ararat Best Bet - Race 1 No. 1 Mr Lincoln
The six-year-old recorded a good effort when beaten a length into second in a similar race to this over 3800m at this track in November last year.
The pick raced on a good 4 track day and that having been spelled subsequently has made just four race appearances so far in 2024.
Those four efforts have resulted in two placings including when narrowly beaten over 3150m at Mount Gambier on his penultimate start.
The son of Americain contested a Benchmark 75 handicap that day with the winner boosting the form in winning at Echuca subsequently.
The selection is a versatile type with regard to the going having raced on a heavy 9 track in the previously mentioned Mount Gambier event.
The drop to country-level racing is in his favour here having been beaten just under seven lengths in a 3000m metro event at Moonee Valley last time.
Tom Ryan, on board last year is again set to ride with the pair looking capable of recording a win here.

Ararat Next Best Bet - Race 4 No. 8 Reel Hot
The son of Highland Reel was a cheap $12,000 yearling purchase at the Inglis Gold Yearling Sale last year.
The gelding failed to shine in a barrier trial at this track finishing nearly ten lengths behind the winner over 850m at the end of September.
The three-year-old came within a length-and-a-half of defying odds of $26 when making his debut at Warrnambool recently however.
The selection came home second when racing over 1400m on a good 4 track finding only a more experienced rival too strong that day.
The gelding is expected to have improved for that debut experience with jockey Teodore Nugent set to ride for the first time.
Barrier eight shouldn’t pose any problems for Symon Wilde’s gelding who raced from mid-division on debut.
The pick is bred to appreciate the step up in distance he gets here and he is taken to break through to register his first win.

Ararat Feature Bet - Race 7 No. 10 Staunch
Matt Laurie’s gelding is a dual winner this prep including when delivering a victory by nearly a length when racing at Geelong first up this prep.
The six-year-old contested a Benchmark 64 handicap held on a soft 7 track that day and he went on to place in a metro contest at Morphettville next time.
The selection returned to winning ways stepped up to 2015m for a Benchmark 70 handicap held on a good 3 track at Warracknabeal at the end of August.
The son of Flying Artie delivered a couple of good efforts in metro Benchmark 78 handicaps subsequently including when fourth at Caulfield on his penultimate start.
The form of that contest received a recent boost at Flemington with the fifth home Garachico winning the Australian Heritage Cup on Tuesday.
The drop back in grade here is a positive having jumped at big odds in the Group 3 Bendigo Cup last time and he looks up to saluting under Patrick Moloney.

Ararat Value Bet - Race 8 No. 6 Justdoit
The seven-year-old showed good form earlier this year finishing in the first two in all bar two of her seven starts.
Those two disappointing efforts included a ninth of ten when fading in a 1400m Benchmark 78 handicap at Caulfield in August.
The pick was spelled following that effort having headed into that contest on the back of two metro victories.
The second of those metro successes saw the mare get the better of six rivals in a 1410m Benchmark 84 handicap at Flemington on her penultimate start.
Luke Oliver’s galloper is a fairly versatile type with regard to tactics and with that in mind barrier ten shouldn’t provide any issues here.
The daughter of Unencumbered usually comes to hand quickly having won twice and placed third once from four first up efforts.
The slight drop in distance shouldn’t inconvenience and Daniel Moor’s mount looks capable of striking first up.
