PETER DEMPSEY PLUMBING MAIDEN HANDICAP Tips (Race 4)
Albury Value Bet - Race 4 No. 12 Phakisa
Crossing the border second-up on Tuesday is this three-year-old from the Gerald Egan stable, a galloper who was fair in a Tatura trial prior to his return at Wangaratta over the 1170m.
While he was safely held in a midfield finish, Phakisa did make ground from the rear in an event that stacked up superbly for that June 4 program, going around four and a half lengths faster than the other Maiden and almost a length faster than the Benchmark 64.
Without necessarily showing a lot in four prior performances, the son of Turffontein is understandably a big price, but in what is a much weaker race, a forward showing here wouldn't shock, now getting to a more suitable trip.

Albury Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 4 Flying Finch
The unknown is the heavy track for this lightly raced four-year-old who otherwise does bring some very strong form lines as the most progressive galloper in the line-up.
After showing some promise in his first campaign, Flying Finch led first-up at Bendigo where he was only reeled in by Sugartown, a filly that bolted in at BM 64 level at her next start and was a beaten favourite in town via her most recent outing.
Winning as favourite in a 40k Maiden on Scone Cup Day, the form has been franked from that event with the next three home all now Provincial winners and the gelding drops down to 58.5kg from the 60kg impost he had in that last victory.

Albury Best Bet - Race 7 No. 3 Hellova Night
While this three-year-old has shown ability this preparation in Victoria, it's about D-Day, crossing the border for a Class 1 Handicap which is easily the weakest assignment he's faced this time in.
Tipped out following a debut win at Tatura last October, trainer Adrian Corboy thought enough of Hellova Night to resume in the Sandown midweeks behind Curran, an event where he was well held but it's certainly worth respecting the $11 starting price there.
Finishing off well for second in a leader dominated event on a Soft 7 via his most recent attempt, this gelding gets the services of gun hoop Blaike McDougall for Tuesday's tilt, so expect him to get every chance.
