Railway Stakes Best Bet - Samizdat @ $8

A half brother to a group three winner in Samovare that'll arrive to the Railway Stakes fourth-up following a qualifying win on November 2.

He's got back and run on in every effort this campaign whilst the decision to throw the blinkers on before his last start was a big success.

Untried at a mile which is the question mark but he wasn't stopping at seven furlongs last time and has always given the impression this preparation that he's searching for it.

Down in the weights is always a key in any Railway and the lightly raced four and five year old's have a good profile for this race with that relief.

Railway Stakes Next Best Bet - The Velvet King @ $10

There's probably more talented locals than this son of Universal Ruler but there's none more genuine or honest.

A record of seven wins from fourteen starts with five minor placings to go with that is a good example of his consistency with his last victory coming second-up on October 19.

In a key lead-up race on November 9 via the Group Three Lee-Steere on November 9, his chasing effort had as much merit as any where the first two home just had the softer runs in transit.

He's better served when allowed to roll on the speed and should give a decent sight.

Railway Stakes Best Value Bet - Regal Power @ $15

If we like Samizdat, then a saver on this Bob Peters owned four-year-old should be considered.

Presented to win on November 2 against Samizdat before peaking on his run late as runner-up, he was admittedly beaten fairly in that race.

That clearly wasn't the target race, though, especially going of his last trial October 21 which was sound but suggested he'd need the run and his lack of first-up form supports that theory.

He's evidently got enough talent and is perhaps the local with the most improvement to come in the Railway.
