Northam Best Bets & Predictions For Sunday, October 6

Northam hosts the Sunday meeting in the west with the feature race being the $50,000 Ladies Day Cup, which is Race 7.

The circuit at Northam is big and spacious that ends with a 425m run for home.

Race 7 No. 4 Sliced Bread

This four-year-old peaked on his run first up before a rise in class at Belmont on September 21 when hitting the line late for third after he was a little flat-footed initially chasing a hot tempo.

The blinkers went on prior to that performance and it was an effort that suggested he was crying out for the mile now which he gets here and the form out of that field has been consistent at city level.

Last campaign he was around the mark in a few listed events and in his last victory, he put away a few handy types including Angelic Ruler who's subsequently been group placed on multiple occasions in Melbourne.

Not a bad field for the feature on the card but he looks the one ready to peak.

Race 6 No. 1 Bobcat Johnnie

Seven-year-old that's had just the four career starts and returned to score first-up at Belmont on September 4 after having not been at the races since January 2018.

Followed that up with a game runner-up effort where the promising Nerodio just got the better of him late but they spaced the rest and that galloper has since won again.

Steps up to 1400m the first time but has some runs under the belt finally and jockey Alan Kennedy may elect to roll forward to off-set a sticky gate.

Has had his issues but only needs to hold his recent form to be the one to beat here.
