Newcastle Racing Tips For 16.11.2019 - Will Juventus win at home?

Saturday metropolitan racing in NSW heads a few hours up the M1 to Newcastle for a nine race program.

The feature race comes up in Race 6 via the inaugural running of the $1 million dollar Hunter.

Newcastle Favourites

Race 6 No. 3 Graff

There's a few decent arguments either side of the fence in regards to Graff's chances in the main event.

The positives being he's probably the most talented horse in the race and targeted for this off a freshen-up following three runs in strong small fields which clearly isn't his forte.

In regards to the negatives, well he always needs a bit to go his way and he hasn't entered the winners stall in ten attempts since scoring brilliantly in August last year via the San Domenico.

Looked up to the mark in his most recent trial, a good speed up front and barrier eight are both positives and the price is right if you're in his corner.

Newcastle Roughies

Race 4 No. 5 Let's Rebelle

In a typically competitive mares benchmark field, this five-year-old does appear over the odds.

Not much went right early in the campaign where after a freshen-up, she was targeted towards the Hastings Cup and there's no doubting with a better barrier, that she beats that winner in Miss Redoble after covering a stack of ground.

She meets her 1.5kg better off from that race and with Miss Redoble currently around $5.50 and Let's Rebelle $17.00, there's far too big a discrepancy there going off the form.

Has since won with a rather soft kill on November 3, she has a good strike rate overall and is getting under the guard here.

Newcastle Best Bet

Race 8 No. 7 Juventus

This honest and locally trained gelding from the powerful Kris Lees camp is well placed with the step-up in distance following a return off a freshen-up on November 2.

If we look at the race shape of that last outing where the first three out were the first three across the line, there was enough merit in the fourth placing of Juventus to have him as the best bet at Newcastle.

Prior to that he had been running around some fair company including a third placing behind Rock who has since been group one competitive and the 1500m of this looks ideal.

Draws barrier one for James McDonald who can give him a lovely run in transit and is terrific value at the current odds.

Newcastle Next Best Bet

Race 1 No. 5 Sir Pippin

We fancied this Chris Waller trained galloper first-up at a price on November 2 following two nice trials to begin his spring campaign.

He was scratched at the gates a week prior to that race and ultimately he was probably a run short but he didn't get the cleanest of runs home and should've finished a little closer.

His work late through the line was the best part of it where he was beaten under a length in the end and like most imports, they generally come on further in their second preparation.

Has won two from three second-up, the extra distance is a plus and may be the one on the up here against many that have been up a while now.

Newcastle Best Each Way

Race 5 No. 6 Indy Car

By Sebring and out of a Hussonet mare from a good middle distance family, this three-year-old's breeding suggests he should eat up the mile at start number three.

That's not to say he doesn't have a turn of foot, though which was evident on debut over six furlongs via this circuit when rounding them up with ease in a slashing performance.

Indy Car did go straight to town following that on November 2 where he arguably should've won but just never got a clean crack at them when it mattered.

Rule The World is clearly the best in at the weights off that but with potentially more pressure up front and more luck here, this looks the each way play

It looks a good betting program at Newcastle where Juventus is nice price as our best bet in Race 8.

Sir Pippin in the opener shouldn't be far away now and Indy Car is a strong each way hope via the Group Three Spring Stakes.
