Moruya Tips October 2

Moruya Best Bet - Race 3 No. 1 El Magnificence

A new acquisition for the Robert & Luke Price yard is this son of Magnus who has prospered with the step back to racing on the country NSW circuit where a wide gate cost him victory second-up before a brilliant victory on September 14.

The winkers were applied prior to that performance where he gave nothing else a chance when leading throughout and put three and a half lengths on Eltham Palace in the process, a runner who defeated a subsequent city winner in De Grawin back in January.

El Magnificence only goes up 1.5kg for a contest that isn't any harder and should take plenty of catching from a low draw as the best bet on the card if he holds that form.

Moruya Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 4 Show Tickets

After over-racing fresh in a flop at Provincial level, Show Tickets was sent to Nowra on September 20 where she had excuses when defeated by a useful Nicci's Fling who had the perfect drop on her.

She was taken on early by a roughie in Litzen on that occasion who was one of the first horses beaten (6.5 lengths) and the daughter of Showcasing then attempted to pinch it but the run told late with the favourite going past her easily over the concluding stages.

Show Tickets still had a length and a half on the third-placed Belle Of Clonmel who had been competitive in stronger races and third-up here in a winnable affair, she gets her chance.

Moruya Value Bet - Race 7 No. 8 Defy

The $35,000 Bateman's Bay Cup headlines the October 2 program at Moruya which sees this honest gelding arrive third-up off a promising start to his campaign.

Defy generally takes a few runs to hit his straps and recent performances include a fair return on September 1 where the 60kg just took its toll with the lack of fitness before an excellent second-up run when held-up in the straight at key stages in a race he arguably should've won.

This is admittedly a deeper field; however, he now steps up to his pet trip and also finally draws well where he can land closer early and at a double figure quote, is the each-way mix.
