Moonee Valley Tips - Friday, October 4

Moonee Valley will host an eight race card on Friday night where there looks plenty of talent on show.

The rail will be out seven metres for the entire circuit which means fields are at a max capacity of 10 horses.

The track may play leader biased because tis rail is so far out and leaders may just pinch a break around that sweeping bend.

Moonee Valley Favourites

Race 2 No. 9 Springrolls - $4 via BetEasy

This galloper from the Tim Hughes yard won very well at Sale last start on September 19.

Before this start, she finished sixth, beaten five lengths by Exhilarates in the Atlantic Jewel which is a good form reference for this race.

What I like about her in this race is that Craig Williams is sticking aboard her and she will jump from a inside gate which is rarely a negative at Moonee Valley.

She will likely lead this field up.

Moonee Valley Roughies

Race 3 No. 3 Young Hostess - $9 via BetEasy

An ever consistent horse from the Jamie Edwards yard that will appreciate the 3000m.

She draws wide but over 3000m, hopefully she can find some cover before leaving the straight the first time.

Jake Noonan has sat aboard her for three starts this campaign and has recorded two wins and a second.

She enjoys the firm going and at $9 she looks overs in what is a very even race.

Moonee Valley Best Bet

Race 5 No. 9 Sartorial Splendor

His last-start effort was tremendous first-up, being only beaten on the line at Caulfield.

The issue here is that he draws the carpark, but over 955m I expect him to be quick enough to slide across the field.

This race is only a benchmark 64 and, while his handicap rating sits at 66, he'll get a weight relief being three-year-old

On class he is the best horse in the race, it will just be a matter of what luck he gets from the outside gate, but I will be backing him with confidence.

Moonee Valley Best Bet: Sartorial Splendor - $2.70 via BetEasy

Moonee Valley Next Best Bet

Race 4 No. 2 Akamon

This lightly raced seven-year-old gelding was very competitive on September 7, running second to a very progressive horse from the McEvoy yard in Adelaide.

He has had a four week freshen up for this race, the same method used to his victory three starts ago at Sandown.

He is probably a better wet tracker, but he is still a very effective horse on top of the ground.

Akamon sticks to benchmark 70 grade which looks his right grade and he will go close in this race, sitting up on the speed with Ben Allen in the saddle.

Moonee Valley Next Best Bet: Akamon - $5.50 via BetEasy

What time is the first race at Moonee Valley?

Race one is set to jump at 6.30pm AEST.

Does Moonee Valley play fair?

Moonee Valley has played fair this whole season with horses winning from all over the track.

Tonight may be different with the rail out so far.

What is the best bet at Moonee Valley?

We believe Sartorial Splendor is the hardest to beat in race five. We will also be having a small bet on Akamon in race four.

We will be having a big play on Sartorial Splendor in race five and a small saver on Akamon in race four.
