Kembla Grange Tips August 6

Kembla Grange Roughie - Race 2 No. 3 Taumalolo

From the local Brett Lazzarini stable is this son of All Too Hard who's been solid in both runs to date and should be suited by the rise to seven furlongs here.

He was specked at good odds prior to his debut over 1000m ($11.00-$7.50) where although he found that trip a little sharp, some traffic in the run home cost him momentum and as a result, had to settle for a fourth placing (should've run top three).

Taumalolo ran into a useful Global Queen last time out over the 1300m here on July 23 with that winner dictating proceedings up front and he was only a stride off grabbing the runner-up who had settled outside the leader.

Drawing to settle handy in the run from barrier four with Winona Costin now taking the reins (rode in a June trial), Taumalolo looks set to run out a strong 1400m and is a decent price in the early markets.

Kembla Grange Best Bet - Race 5 No. 9 On The Lead

Whilst it's obviously harder coming out of a two-year-old maiden to face older opposition, this looks a rather weak race and this is the galloper with clearly the most upside in the field.

A $400,000 weanling purchase back in 2018, On The Lead debuted with a third placing back in February behind Gravina and Blondeau, who were both thereabouts in some hot juvenile races either side of that outing.

He was tipped out after finishing down to the track to both the 2020 Blue Diamond Winner and Golden Slipper winner in March and returning a more furnished galloper, backed-up a strong trial effort to break the maiden impressively here on July 23.

There's a lot of improvement to come with On The Lead and with ability looking as though it should take him a long way in a mediocre contest, he can continue to progress as the best bet at Kembla Grange this Thursday.

Kembla Grange Value Bet - Race 7 No. 2 Esteem Spirit

For the each-way players in the last race from Kembla Grange, this six-year-old should be able to give a good sight now third-up from a spell.

From the strong local Gwenda Markwell stable who always has to be respected on this circuit with any galloper, Esteem Spirit made a fair return over the six furlongs on July 9 when doing his best work late.

He did appear a little plain to they eye albeit still honest for a two and a half length defeat into fourth on July 23 but as is generally the case with this gelding, he does take a few runs to hit his straps and will find this a little easier especially with the 2.5kg claim.

All four wins from Esteem Spirit have come on his home deck at Kembla Grange and from four attempts over the 1400m here, he has two wins and two placing's to his name.
