Kembla Grange Predictions, Best Bets & Betting Preview

Kembla Grange hosts the provincial horse racing meeting for New South Wales this Thursday as many horses return to kick-start their Spring campaigns.

The rail is in the 3m position from the 1100m mark to the winning post and True the remainder.

Race 2 No.3 – Mo’s Crown

With the expectation he will be scratched from Canterbury, Mo’s Crown looks the bet of the day.

On the back of two impressive trials, he looks primed to take this race by the scruff of the neck. In both his lead-in trials he not only finished well but he jumped with the field in both races, something he didn’t do first-up last preparation.

Mo's Crown was extraordinary in that first-up run when he missed the kick before being hustled along to lead the race. The race was all but his until he was run down by a special horse in True Detective.

Jason Coyle has always held this colt in high regard and with a favourable draw looks very hard to beat.

Race 4 No. 11 – Eleven Eleven

Gregory Hickman loves this bloke and it’s not hard to see why.

This preparation he has gone to another level since coming to New South Wales. After he narrowly missed out at Nowra and not overly handling the race at Kensington, he made Kembla Grange his own.

Not only is he going for three on the trot at 1000m, but it’s also at Kembla where he seems to be thriving. He looks likely to lead or at least sit in the top two in the running and even though he is carrying the most weight so far in his career, his turn of foot will overcome this with ease.

He should have won by a lot more last start if Keegan Latham didn’t ease up on him leading into the line. Keegan sticks with him for this ride and the good track is going to make him very hard to hold out.

With the number of runners in this field, I am expecting a better price come race time.

Race 5 No.10 – Society

I think the mare is over the odds and this is her best chance to get the second win of her career.

Both runs so far in her preparation have been good. First-up, she was good hitting the line against some decent provincial gallopers, one of them has since won in town. Her next start was a run to forget, despite getting a crack at a mile.

She gets that here on a bigger track with plenty of speed which is very exciting. Being out of So You Think and Champagne Dance, she is bred to go much further than a mile but with her fitness and another go at a mile, she will be flashing late.
