Ipswich Tips & Betting Predictions For Wednesday, October 9

Ipswich hosts the Wednesday metro meeting in QLD with an eight race card.

The rail is out 5m from the 1600m-1200m and 6m for the remainder, so monitor for potential on-pace bias on this tight track where with warm conditions expected over Tuesday and Wednesday, there should be an upgrade on the current Soft 5 rating.

Ipswich Best Bet

Race 5 No. 4 Storm Harbour

Ex-Victorian galloper now in the care of the Tim Hurley stable that lapped up the step in distance here on September 20 to power away late for a strong win.

Admittedly he didn't beat much although Solspiel has been a subsequent winner from that field in a similar race and this event doesn't appear to be much harder.

Only goes up half a kilo off that last start effort with Byrne retaining the ride who has a good record at Ipswich and for this season so far, he has a winning strike rate of 26.7%.

Draws barrier one in this small field where he should be able to dictate the race and is very well placed to win again.

Ipswich Best Bet: Storm Harbour - $3.50 via Bet365

Ipswich Next Best Bet

Race 8 No. 12 Remuera

Four-year-old mare from the Chris Waller camp who after a promising campaign early in the year around decent company in Melbourne, has been a little disappointing given she hasn't gone on with it.

The change of environment up north may do the trick as on her Brisbane debut at Doomben on September 25 where she just missed late in a race that did change complexion a little early and the winner just had that tactical edge in the run.

This followed an effort on the Kensington circuit on September 4 where she was beaten three and a half lengths in a much stronger race where the form has since stood up and the winner wasn't disgraced in a group two the start following that.

Draws for a soft run from an inside alley and she'll struggle seeing a better chance to bring up win number two.

What time is the first race at Ipswich?

The first kicks off at 12.43pm.

When is the Ipswich Cup?

The Ipswich Cup is a listed event over 2150m that's held in mid-June as part of the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival.

Bergerac took out this year's feature which was worth $180,000 overall and the 2020 Ipswich Cup will be held on Saturday, June 13.

Storm Harbour can go on with it in Race 5, especially if the leaders are favored.

This is d-day for Remuera in the last but was strong at Doomben and it's not a vintage line-up.
