Villiers Stakes Tips 2021
2021 Villiers Stakes Best Bet - Brutality
After a brave, but luckless run in the Festival Stakes a fortnight ago, this gelding backed-up last week with a big weight and on a Good 4, just wasn't as suited, spotting 6kg to Katalin in the process.
Brutality lost no admirers in his third-place finish and while his Randwick record doesn't reflect it, stepping to 1600m and plummeting back to the 53kg minimum looks a big advantage here.
Three runs in three weeks isn't exactly conventional, however, the five-year-old clearly thrives off the work and while it was over 1800m, his last victory came on that exact pattern.
With rain expected on Thursday and well suited drawn out under Regan Bayliss, this does look a little set play from Joe Pride yard, as they look to qualify Brutality for the 2022 Doncaster Mile.

2021 Villiers Stakes Value Bet - Criaderas
If it came down to ability, I wouldn't at all be surprised if this lightly raced Godolphin runner blew this field away, a galloper who has Group 1 class, but with a horror racing pattern, has become costly.
Off a freshen-up deep into his second campaign, Criaderas was favourite to win last year's Villiers Stakes, a feature that he was only a few strides off saluting in and this edition is no harder.
After another narrow miss behind Think It Over (now a dual Group 1 winner), the son of Lonhro hasn't gone on with it, although did improve second-up in The Gong off a poor fresh effort.
Third-up and now his second attempt this prep in the blinkers, I do wonder whether this has been the plan from James Cummings to get Criaderas peaking for the Villiers, albeit he's still hard to read.
