The Run to The Rose is a key lead-up event for the Group One Golden Rose, one of the bigger stallion-making races in Australia and the main three-year-old race of the Sydney Spring Carnival.

A Group Two that will be contested over the 1200m at Kembla Grange this year. a fine field has been assembled and we'll get a good gauge on some highly touted animals after Saturday.

At $2.50 with TopSport, Anamoe is the outright favourite for the 2021 Run To The Rose.

2021 Run To The Rose Tips

2021 Run To The Rose Best Bet - Anamoe

After a luckless debut and then an excellent Merson Cooper win, he arguably should be unbeaten where after being beaten a pimple fresh in the autumn, drew wide and rattled home for placings in the Golden Slipper and Blue Diamond, either side of a victory in Todman Stakes.

Rounding out his two-year-old days with a dominant display in the Sires's Produce Stakes, Anamoe was the most talented runner from that crop, doing so much on raw ability over shorter trips with a view to potentially exploding this spring.

While first-up at 1200m off a good, but soft trial is likely going to leave the Godolphin colt at his most vulnerable first-up, he did strike me a horse that could simply win everything as a three-year-old, while the big expanses of Kembla Grange could be a blessing.

2021 Run To The Rose Next Best Bet - Remarque

A full brother to the 2018 Golden Slipper winner Estijaab, Remarque was fancied himself in the autumn two-year-old features, backing up a dominant debut win with a two-length defeat behind Anamoe and Profiteer in the Todman Stakes.

They were forced to spell the colt for the spring after a setback and off two two lead up trials which suggested he was ready to pounce fresh in the Rosebud Stakes, it was a luckless return in a fast run affair when finishing third behind Paulele and In The Congo.

Opting to scratch from San Domenico and go for a trial (which he won easily) was an opportunity missed, with that Rosebud quinella filling first and second again, however, with that solid hit-out and fitter, he does have one of the better platforms to win the Run To The Rose.

2021 Run To The Rose Value Bet - Gleneagles

While he lacked the turn-of-foot at 1000m of the quinella, the first-up run on August 28 was a definite pass mark from this son of Capitalist who was taking on older opposition fresh, and that winner Andermatt does look a stakes class sprinter.

Gleneagles was brilliant over the 1400m on Hawkesbury Cup Day back in the autumn, bustling his way through to power down the outside after being buried away on the fence and while flat in the JJ Atkins after that, he's not first horse that's failed to let down at Eagle Farm.

Impossible to say how he measures up against some of the elite three-year-old's with the market somewwhat rightfully opposing some of his form lines, although I do think this colt is very much untapped and the trial win leading into that return was outstanding.

Anamoe could well be the champion three-year-old of the spring, so despite wanting a better price fresh, I'm not in a hurry to take him on.

This may be the best chance for Remarque to land a Stakes win, so happy to save on him.

At big odds, we're including Gleneagles in the exotics.
