The 2021 Australia Stakes will be run at Moonee Valley racecourse on Friday, January 22 where our best bets are available below.
With a purse of $200,000, this sprinting event may be small, but there is some fire power in it with Group One winner Streets Of Avalon heading the weights from short priced favourite Viridine and veteran galloper Widgee Turf.

2021 Australia Stakes Tips
Australia Stakes 2021 Best Bet - Viridine
This great little sprinter was good first-up at Rosehill when third in the Starlight behind Invictus Salute where he went around as a $5.50 chance.
Last start, he went to Eagle Farm where he finished fourth in the Falvelon behind Roheryn and The Odyssey, two subsequent Magic Millions performers.
Viridine now comes back to Melbourne third-up, where although he has never won at his stage of the campaign, is by far the best sprinter in this event.
Although his Moonee Valley record isn't great, this Godolphin gelding has contested in some high level races whereas this is more the type of even that's well within his grasp.
Australia Stakes 2021 Next Best Bet - Tavisan
This boy loves Moonee Valley, having only missed a top three finish once from five attempts.
The son of Tavistock performed well at his first two runs for the campaign when finishing third in the Doveton and second in an Open Handicap behind the Standish winner Sirius Suspect.
Despite performing well below average last start, we'll forgive that run for now, coming into the Australia Stakes off a freshen-up.
Tavisan should take up the running with Streets Of Avalon and this small field where it looks likely to develop into a sprint home for the on-pace runners, he should get every chance.
Australia Stakes 2021 Value Bet - Neighbourhood
If for some reason the leaders decide to make this a contest over the final 800m, this mare is the one that has the x-factor to finish over the top.
She has been solid this prep, with a fourth in the Linlithgow and a third in the Heffernan at Sandown, both deeper affairs to what's on offer here.
Neighbourhood was below her best in the Standish, although still not far away from the winner but just a little flat-footed.
Off a 19 day break and into a small field where she won't be far off them, this five-year-old is the pick of the outside chances in the 2021 Australia Stakes.
