2021 Summer Cup Best Bet - Stockman
While it was another very solid performance from this gelding over the mile in The Villiers, he simply looks to be searching for 2000m now, which does appear to be his best trip.
A dual stakes winner over the winter when deep into his prep, Stockman is no world beater by any means, but on soft and heavy ground, is a very effective middle-distance competitor.
The five-year-old did put the writing on the wall second-up with a slashing effort in the Festival Stakes behind Ellsberg, a rival on the 53kg minimum that looked to be peaking there.
Hard-fit with a strong third-up mile performance under the belt and especially if the track remains a Soft 6 or worse, then I do think he's got the best platform among this Summer Cup field.

2021 Summer Cup Next Best Bet - Criaderas
With a decent run of outs and low percentage racing pattern, this Godolphin gelding has proven a frustrating one for punters, however, he's the most talented horse in this Summer Cup.
Although he was beaten three lengths, the first-up Randwick run was visually a shocker and with the blinkers reapplied. the chasing midfield effort in The Gong was a pass mark.
Looking to qualify for The Doncaster yet again via The Villers, Criaderas was left with too big a task to reel in Brutality, but recorded the fastest last 600m of that Group 2 event.
The son of Lonhro is yet to be tested past 1600m, although being a half-brother to Hauraki (2000m winner) and Kidnapped (SA Derby winner), his breeding suggests he can run it out.

2021 Summer Cup Value Bet - Attorney
Given his starting prices in prior outings this year, including the 150/1 quote last start in The Villiers, better odds should be available closer to the jump for this Matthew Smith-trained gelding.
While the 10 of 16 finish doesn't necessarily read all that well, it was one of the more underrated performances of that Group 2, where he should've finished closer over the 1600m.
That trip is a little on the short side for Attorney, with his last victory coming in the 2020 Pakenham Cup (2500m), while he was badly chopped out of a run at the 100m a fortnight ago.
With clean room at that key stage last start, he arguably finishes fifth and not all that far off Criaderas and Stockman in the process, who are two of the leading chances in the Summer Cup.
