This gelding has now won four on the trot, including a dominant three length win down the Flemington straight last start.
Two back, he was too strong for stable mate That Girl, now rising in class to face his toughest test thus far into his career.
What he has in his favour is an explosive turn-of-foot that will suit the race shape of the small field, as well as the last start straight track win next to his name.
If Defiant Dancer can produce anything like he did last start then he is going to be mighty hard to beat.

A great last start winner at Pakenham, two starts back he was third on Melbourne Cup day to Exhilirates and TheAstrologist, some very strong sprinting form lines heading into the summer.
He loves Flemington and he loves the straight, having won twice and placed twice from five attempts at the track and trip, as well as having won seven of 15 over 1200m.
Although he has shown some good form on soft ground, he seems to relish fimer footing, which is exactly what he got last start and will get on Saturday.
He is the horse who is already at this level coming into the race and the one who our top selection needs to beat.

This mare has been in good form this prep, running fourth in the Linlithgow first-up before running third in the Heffernan, both behind Kemelpasa.
She has been at big odds at both starts back this prep and has again opened at a decent quote.
Neighbourhood has won four of her 12 starts so she does know how to win, but now stepping up to this level, needs to rack up that win to ensure connections that she is good enough to keep competing at this level.
She will sit back and with any speed on in the race, will be the one to watch late off the back of Defiant Dancer.
