Gunsynd Classic 2020 Tips

Named after the "Goondiwindi Grey" in Gunsynd, an early 1970's champion of the Australian turf is this three-year-old middle distance race for three-year-old's.

Traditionally used as one of the lead-up races for the Queensland Derby, this race will have a different feel to it in 2020 being over 1800m (generally 1600m) with no Derby grand final, so expect the big field to perhaps be a little more forward in comparison ot previous years.

The dominant Frank Packer Plate winner Kinane is the $2 favourite with PlayUp to win the 2020 Gunsynd Classic.

Gunsynd Classic 2020 Best Bet - Kinane @ $2.00

Deciding to skip the South Australian Derby and head north to Brisbane is this lightly-raced Chris Waller runner who was last seen taking out the Frank Packer Plate in style at Randwick on April 18.

A powerful son of Reliable Man who broke the maiden only two starts back at a Wyong, he's very much still on an upward spiral and whilst he's drawn out here, they were likely heading back irrespective.

It'll be interesting to see what the betting does late with Kinane, but with a rating that needs to lift if there's a Melbourne Spring plan in place, you'd imagine they're at Eagle Farm to produce straight up as the best bet in the 2020 Gunsynd Classic.

Gunsynd Classic 2020 Value Bet - Supergiant @ $12

We specked this three-year-old at huge odds last start via the Doomben Guineas, where he beat all bar an in-form Vanna Girl but did put a length on third.

Prepared by the astute Michael Costa yard, this gelding doesn't leave you guessing with his racing style where he makes his own luck by rolling along up front.

On a similar premise to last start, he'll be ahead of many of these that need things to fall their way in transit and if there's any hint of a leaders pattern emerging over the day at Eagle Farm, Supergiant's chances only increase.
