With seven wins and two seconds from nine career starts, Eliyass has been a model of consistency and following an impressive Australian debut win in the Listed Lord Mayors Cup on June 8, the gelding was tipped out with the spring in mind.

Gai Waterhouse has a terrific record in The Metropolitan, having prepared the winner of this staying feature on nine occasions (latest with Adrian Bott) and that includes Just Fine (2023 winner).

Fawkner Park ($8) is on the second line of betting and connections may choose this 2400m Group 1 as his main lead-up for the Caulfield Cup, which is contested two weeks later.
The son of Zoffany was unlucky not to complete a winning hat-trick in the Doomben Cup on May 25, but he quickly atoned with a dominant display over 2200m via the Q22 at Eagle Farm and he was spelled following that victory.
Don Diego De Vega ($10) is a talented and lightly raced import who saluted with 61kg via his second Australian start on July 13, while he was runner-up prior to that on heavy ground at Randwick.
He'll also be suited up in distance despite contesting two 1800m races over winter.
