Just Fine has created an immediate impression Down Under, with the six-year-old opening his Australian account with back-to-back wins, which includes a strong on-pace victory via the Group 3 Kingston Town Stakes on September 16
Under handicap conditions in The Metropolitan, the Waterhouse & Bott-trained import will carry just 50kg in this Group 1, which is a massive 5kg drop from his last start.
The 2400m journey looks like the main query for Just Fine, especially given he was well held in three attempts over similar journeys in Europe.
At $1.90 with TopSport, Just Fine is favourite for the 2023 Metropolitan, while Benaud ($9.50) is the only other runner at a single-figure quote.
The son of Reliable Man broke a big winning drought when plummeting in grade back in July and while it was a messy edition of the Wyong Cup, he did take out that Listed feature only two starts back.
Major Beel ($11) has been building well in three outings this campaign and is suited by the rise in distance here fourth-up, having won the Australian Derby over this track/trip back in April.

The Metropolitan Winners
The Metropolitan was first run in 1863 and has remained one of Australia’s biggest staying races, despite not having the quality of the Sydney and Melbourne Cups.
Run at Royal Randwick over 2400m, 'The Metrop' is the premier staying race of the Sydney Spring Carnival and this major often attracts a competitive field.
Mirage Dancer (2020), Montefilia (2021) and No Compromise (2022) have won the last three editions of The Metropolitan.
