The DC McKay Stakes is generally a strong Goodwood reference (produced three of the last four winners) and this gelding has produced the run of that 1100m lead-up event.
In a race and on a card which did favour on-speed runners due to some farcical tempos, The Inferno was clearly the pick of the off-speed brigade in that May 11 affair.
The ex-Singapore champion has had an interrupted campaign and freshened-up off a Black Caviar Lightning return, was unsuited at Sale, but improved off that nicely..
He's set for a peak performance over 1200m and off what will be a fast run six furlongs. Mark Zahra will just need a pinch of luck in transit to be in the finish.

The Goodwood 2022 Value Bet - Savatoxl
Aiming for back-to-back wins in The Goodwood is this McEvoy galloper, an ex-Territorian that bolted in last year after winning the DC McKay Stakes.
With 61kg first-up in The Discovery, Savatoxl put in a shocker fresh at Sale, albeit did pull up with the thumps and was also disappointing fresh last autumn.
While he didn't defend his DC McKay Stakes crown after travelling like the winner, this gelding was only pipped in the last stride and was taken on early there.
The six-year-old importantly draws inside other on-speed rivals here and as he has proven multiple times, he can be very hard to get past on a good speed.

The Goodwood 2022 Roughie - Outlaws Revenge
While this is comfortably his hardest task to date, I'm confident we'll see Outlaw's Revenge at his absolute top for The Goodwood, following a slow autumn build up.
A local from the Ryan Balfour stable, he was earmarked for this feature after a pair of stakes wins over this track/trip last prep, the first a brilliant effort without favours.
With an average first-up run coming in off the back off a plain April 7 trial, he had question marks ahead of the DC McKay, but that was a much-improved showing.
Off the slow start and that more encouraging display a fortnight ago, he's clearly been set for this and from midfield with cover, the outsider can run a race.
