Star Western Australian mare Amelia's Jewel (barrier 9) will have her final start for trainer Simon Miller via The Goodwood, with the four-year-old to be prepared by Annabel Neasham going forward.

A Group 1 winner who clearly appreciates getting over longer trips, class has still taken her a long way over sprint distances and that was evident last start when runner-up in The Quokka.

Amelia's Jewel has a key gear change for The Goodwood, with blinkers being worn for the first time.

Oscar's Fortune (barrier 8) is another promising galloper from the west and while he'll likely stay under the care of Dion Luciani, the son of Rich Enuff will campaign in the east after The Goodwood.

A consistent sprinter who has recorded five wins and four placings from nine career starts, Oscar's Fortune will continue his association with gun jockey William Pike in this famous race.

Benedetta (barrier 3) is bursting to win a Group 1 and she came close to achieving that in the Robert Sangster Stakes last start, having finished third in that feature and Jamie Kah takes the reins in The Goodwood.

I Am Me (barrier 1) was safely held in the Robert Sangster Stakes, however, the Ciaron Maher-trained mare was five weeks between runs via that second-up attempt, so there's improvement to come.

Sghirripa (barrier 15) is one of the leading local chances, with the Group 3 winner competitive on return from a freshen-up when finishing fifth-of-twelve in the John Hawkes Stakes.

Extremely Lucky (barrier 6) took out that that key lead-up race on April 27 in what was his return outing for Will Clarken & Niki O'Shea after a short stint under Chris Waller.

Skybird (barrier 5) will have her fair share of admirers, a talented three-year-old who won her first three races in style last spring and she returned to winning form last start over this track/trip via the Tobin Bronze Stakes.

17 runners have accepted for The Goodwood, which headlines the final day of the 2024 Adelaide Autumn Carnival.

The Goodwood Winners

The Goodwood has a long history as South Australia’s feature sprint that is targeted by the big name trainers in the South and Eastern side of the country.

Champion horses on the honor roll include Takeover Target and Black Caviar for a feature which dates back to 1881.

Savatoxl (2021), Lombardo (2022) and Royal Merchant (2023) have won the last three editions of The Goodwood.
