The Galaxy 2021 Tips

The Galaxy 2021 Best Bet - Haut Brion Her

With a Group One still missing on this mare's resume and bringing some elite form lines from last spring, I have no doubt that this is the major that Chris Waller is targeting with Haut Brion Her, who gets her best chance on Saturday to land a big one.

Still a lightly raced five-year-old with just the 12 starts to date, the clock is ticking for this daughter of Zoustar who barring here and perhaps a Sangster tilt in Adelaide, may not see many more Group One opportunities albeit she did take a big leap last preparation.

Stepping out of filly's grade, she was very brave in the last year's Everest as the only on-speed runner to really stick on where she was close up behind Gytrash and Bivouac and defeated home the likes of Nature Strip, Behemoth, Eduardo etc, which are the best sprinting references in the country.

The Galaxy 2021 Value Bet - Easy Eddie

Following a third in this race back in 2019 and with a really consistent base prior to that, the future appeared bright for this gelding but as soon as he looked like progressing a little further, injuries began to strike and his form started to taper off.

Off the scene for 12 months after finishing last in the 2019 Doveton Stakes at Sandown, Easy Eddie started back very slowly, with a plain fresh effort back in November before a two-length defeat in the Listed Xmas Classic at Canterbury, where he still looked well below his best.

Sent for a spell and with the blinkers going on for his return run in the McCarten Stakes, it was by far the best performance we've seen from this Joe Pride galloper in a long time while and it may be the right time to strike in an open but winnable event from a good draw.

The Galaxy 2021 Roughie - Splintex

Although he's still been honest, at weight-for-age level, I just don't think this four-year-old quite has the class to land a really big race but under Handicap conditions of The Galaxy and over his pet track/trip, it gives him a sniff.

A son of Snitzel that is racing as an entire, there is a lot riding on this Saturday for Splintex with a future career at stud in mind and chasing a record time set by Eduardo and Nature Strip, his return effort in the Challenge Stakes at Randwick was fair, especially considering he has no first-up form.

Meeting that winner 4kg better off from that event, this four-year-old could be well on his way to a peak performance here given the good second-up record and from two attempts on Heavy tracks, he's unbeaten which includes a comfortable victory over the Rosehill 1100m last February.
