A competitve field has been assembled for the 2022 Robert Sangster Stakes, which sees early favourite September Run draw barrier five for this fillies and mares sprint feature.

The Chris Waller-trained mare bounced back to winning form in this year's William Reid Stakes and Craig Williams sticks, having been aboard for her last four wins.

Bella Nipotina (barrier three) recorded a tough victory on the last day of The Championships, taking out the Group Two Sapphire Stakes on a Heavy 10 surface at Randwick.

Away Game (barrier one) and Snapdancer (barrier 16) are also prepared by the powerful Maher & Eustace stable.

Instant Celebrity (barrier 12) won the 2021 Robert Sangster Stakes second-up and on April 23, she returned with a close second behind 2020 Robert Sangster Stakes winner Bella Vella (barrier seven).

Argentia (barrier 13), Heresy (barrier eight), Gimmie Par (barrier 14) and Champagne Dreams (barrier four) make up the three-year-old entries.

A total of 16 runners have accepted for the 2022 Robert Sangster Stakes.

Robert Sangster Stakes Winners

The Robert Sangster Stakes is quite unique in nature, as a Group One sprint restricted to fillies and mares.

Black Caviar and Alinghi are two champions that have taken out the feature and have made this a target for some of out-and-out sprinting mares.

Spright (2019), Bella Vella (2020) and Instant Celebrity (2021) have won the last three editions of the Robert Sangster Stakes.
