King's Gambit was a brilliant debut winner at Caufleid back in October, 2022 and while he was forced to the paddock early last spring, he did break a long winning drought before that spell when successful in the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes on October 7.

The Team Snowden-trained three-year-old has been a notable recent firmer in the 2024 Oakleigh Plate market via bet365, with King's Gambit now a $3.75 favourite.
Four-time stakes winner Asfoora ($4.75) is arguably the best sprinter in Australia who currently doesn't have a Group 1 win to their name, although she did prove herself at this level last year with placings in the Oakleigh Plate and Moir Stakes, while she was luckless on Golden Slipper Day when fourth in the The Galaxy.
Her record at Caulfield is excellent, with four wins in the 1000m-1100m range from as many starts and she was brave on return despite losing as an odds-on favourite.
Sghirripa ($6) is one of the more promising sprinters to come out of South Adelaide in recent years and he continues to furnish with racing.
The son of Lonhro has won his last two outings in Melbourne, which includes a Listed triumph over this track/trip on Boxing Day before producing a career-best performance in the Group 3 Standish Handicap last start at Flemington.
