Run as the Kingston Town Classic from 2007 to 2021, the Northerly Stakes is the final Group One of the calendar year in Australia.

bookmaker.com.au have $3 equal favourites in the early markets, with Cascadian and Amelia's Jewel sharing that quote.

A two-time Group One winner trained by James Cummings, Cascadian will be looking to make two major Perth Carnival victories for Godolphin, following Paulele's win in the Winterbottom Stakes.

The eigth-year-old has been a model of consistency, accruing more than $5.6 million from 43 starts, which includes 10 wins.

Leading the local charge is Amelia's Jewel, who has won five from six starts and as a three-year-old filly, she'll carry just 50kg under weight-for-age conditions.

A Group One that has had many name changes, it will be best known to punters as the Kingston Town Classic (2007-2021) before the recent change, which was named after nine-time Group 1 winner Northerly, who is arguably the best horse ever produced from Western Australia.
