The Might And Power has often been a great WFA 2000m lead up to the Cox Plate held a fortnight later, along with a Caulfield Cup lead up for horses wanting a one-week back-up.

The Underwood Stakes form generally heads to this race due to the Group One Turnbull Stakes held at Flemington one week later.

This year, the 2021 Cox Plate favourite Zaaki heads the betting with Ladbrokes at $1.30 coming through an Underwood Stakes win.

Might And Power 2021 Best Bet - Zaaki

He should just win this and do it with his head on his chest out to 2000m, especially with what I am expecting to be a rolling tempo with No Effort in the event.

He was very green at Sandown in the Underwood Stakes, but his class was well above Probabeel who he meets again, and it is fair to say that this horse is more suited than the mare over this trip.

He won the Group One Doomben Cup over this trip last prep producing a Winx like rating, so if anywhere near that level he wins by panels.

Might And Power 2021 Next Best Bet - Nonconformist

He was the winner of the Foundation Cup last start which looked his to win after placing fourth at WFA Group Two level at the start prior.

Winning that event booked his spot in next week's Caulfield Cup, so naturally anotehr run at 2000m will do him the world of good for next week's assignment.

I can't see him beating Zaaki, but at 2000m, hard fit, he is the one I give the least convictions to.

Might And Power 2021 Value Bet - Homesman

He is my fourth selection in the race but has to be some sort of place chance after an honest run over 2040m at Moonee Valley last start.

It was only last prep we saw him win the Group One Australian Cup over this trip at Flemington, and although he is probably a touch below his best, that form is good enough to prove competitive.

He is going to get the sit on No Effort and likely take over as Zaaki puts the pressure on, so it will just means he needs to hold off that charging brigade.
