Run over 2400m at Tokyo Racecourse, the 2020 Japan Cup looks set to be a mouth watering clash between the three best horses in Japan.

Their champion Almond Eye is set to take part in her last ever race, and what a send off it would be, beating one of the best Colts we have seen in Contrail and superstar Filly Daring Tact.

These three horses are all $5 and under, with the fourth elect in the race at nearly $20.

2020 Japan Cup Tips

Japan Cup 2020 Best Bet - Contrail (Tipped at $2.50)

This superstar 3YO looks the real deal and could well be as good as his Sire, Deep Impact.

He is unbeaten from seven starts and was last seen winning the third leg of the Japanese Colts Triple Crown, the Japanese St Leger over 3000m.

Clearly he did not see the trip out given that he won by a flared nostril, but his showed great tenaciousness and showed his superstar qualities to make him such an enticing breeding prospect once the time comes.

Now being a four-time Group One winner, Contrail is seen around the world as the best 3YO on the planet and can prove that against arguably the world's greatest horse, Almond Eye.

He is on the up and is clearly in the top three horses in Japan, so be prepared for something spectacular in the Japan Cup, as his sire Deep Impact did, except in his 4YO season.

Japan Cup 2020 Next Best Bet - Almond Eye

The world's best horse in many racing fans eyes including mine. The darling of Japan, will have her final start in the Japan Cup, the same race that she showed her champion qualities in, in 2018 where she took out the Fillies Triple Crown and stamped her authority in this event, beating Kiseki.

No one would deny her a win in this race, as she deserves to go out with the best win of her career against arguably the next two best horses in Japan.

Her last start win in the Tenno Sho (Autumn) was gutsy, riding a hot speed and holding off Fierement and Chrono Genesis in the final strides who stormed home from the back of the field.

Her one fault in her career was the Arima Kinen last year, finishing right down the track after sitting very wide with no cover for the entire way.

Goodluck girl, and happy retirement.

Japan Cup 2020 Value Bet - Daring Tact (Tipped at $5)

Although she is no value, there is only one other horse that can win this race, and that is the champion Filly of the season.

Unbeaten in five starts, this girl managed to win the Fillies Triple Crown, beating Magic Castle in the Shuka Sho over 2000m.

The 2400m is ideal and although she is ranked as the clear third elect in the race, she is a mare who will relish any pace in the race and can fire home alongside Contrail, as they chase down Almond Eye.

The Colt does look to be the better of the two 3YOs, but this Filly deserves her spot in the race and can do what Almond Eye did in 2018, and take out the Cup after winning the Fillies Triple Crown.

We want to be backing two horses in this race, one to profit and one to save.

Contrail is the Colt to beat after his Triple Crown win.

Almond Eye is the champ and we do not want to lose if she gets the swan song she deserves.

We give Daring Tact incredible respect, but feel the top two are the ones to beat in a race with a tight market.
