2021 Inglis Sires' Tips

2021 Inglis Sires' Best Bet - Anamoe

Following a luckless debut and then an excellent Merson Cooper win, Anamoe arguably should be unbeaten where after being beaten a pimple fresh, drew wide and rattled home for placings in the Golden Slipper and Blue Diamond either side of a victory in Todman Stakes.

By Street Boss and out the dam Anamato, the 2007 Schweppes Oaks winner (2000m), this two-year-old has always given the impression he'll furnish into more of Sires/Champagne type, which his breeding suggests and rattling off clearly the fastest last 600m/200m of the Golden Slipper, it's a feature he would've won from a better draw.

As possibly the most talented two-year-old in this crop, the only knock I have for this Saturday with this Godolphin colt is that he is now approaching his fifth run of the preparation, so if he hasn't had enough, then he simply looks too good for them here.

2021 Inglis Sires' Value Bet - Captivant

The impressive Victory Vein Stakes winner backed-up a professional trial to chase them down with ease on October 17 at Randwick which saw him start a favourite in the $1 million-dollar Golden Gift, where while he did visually look to struggle a little on a wet track, still managed to peel off the fastest last 600m and 200m of that feature.

All things being equal, he can't beat Anamoe based off that Slipper run alone but the son of Capitalist is still very much building with only two runs so far this preparation, twice finding the 1200m a little sharp and was held-up at a key stage of the Slipper when finding the heels of Four Moves Ahead.

Peter & Paul Snowden prepared King's Legacy to win the 2020 Inglis Sires' second-up off what wasn't as strong an effort in the Golden Slipper (in comparison to Captivant) and he's certainly in this at a fair price if the favourite doesn't show up.

2021 Inglis Sires' Roughie - Queen Of Wizardry

She was disappointing first-up in the Golden Slipper, but with a setback from the week before (scratched in the Magic Night Stakes) it was far from the ideal set-up, going straight into a high pressure Slipper first-up off just one trial.

Following an outstanding debut win in Brisbane, Queen Of Wizardry runs a clear second to Shaquero in the Magic Millions 2yo Classic if it weren't for Baby Wong and Ruby Kisses falling into her lap in the straight, so she's certainly capable and the Sires/Champagne have looked more genuine targets from the outset.

Jamie Kah jumping on this filly is a big positive, a jockey with soft hands who'll let this filly find her feet early and ideally, save her up for one last crack over the Randwick 1400m, a track and trip that looks far more suitable than the tighter nature of the Rosehill six furlongs.

Verdict

Anamoe is a deserving short favourite for the Inglis Sires' which he should be winning on current form.

Captivant is still on the up and out to 1400m, is worth having a small saver on.

Queen Of Wizardry goes into the exotics at a huge price.
